Excellent, sporty, well built little car. Fun and cheap to run! What's not to like?

There is a TSB on the cigarette lighter.

For real? Mine does not stay "clicked in" either, but I attributed that to the use of a cell phone charger/speakerphone (like the "navigator" systems) that I used to have. The lighter worked perfectly up until the time I started using the phone accessory - maybe just a coincidence.

So what is the TSB? Does that mean I'll get the stupid thing replaced or fixed for nothing? What are the chances the dealer will give me a new unit and let me install it myself? (I hate when shops have to start pulling the interior apart - let them do the engine, but I like doing interior stuff myself).

Thanks for any extra info.

TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin, issued by the manufacturer. You can track the number of and type of TSB for any given car at the NHTSA website. Usually a manufacturer will fix the problem under warranty.

Oh - I know what a TSB IS, I was just curious as to what Mazda's responsibility is once one is issued for a certain problem, and what they will do in this case (the lighter). Specifically - do I need to make a stupid service appointment, and be without my car for hours if not half or an entire day, or will they just give me the part and let me do the work myself.

But thanks for the info...

Well, let's see ...

My alternator died at 35,000 miles ... wasn't too happy about that. But I'm over it.

Oh, and a rock hit my windshield last week and cracked it. But I'm not gonna blame that on anybody. **** happens ...

Re: Not impressed with my Protege5

Also to date the service department at Ontario Mazda has:

- put glue on my seat (everwhere, but i got it off at home)
- scratched my drivers side plastic pannel (in the interrior of the car under the window contols, pretty bad cant fix it either)
- put oil all over my seats
- told me the rattle in my passenger door was fixed (4 times)
- chipped the interior of my passenger side door
[/B]

You have to realize that the more you take your car in, the more things will get fucked up on it in the service department or any service shop for that matter. Understand that its not their car, they are not paying for it, so they don't care.

Also... if you are not satified with your service at the purchasing dealership there isnt anything stopping you from getting work done at another mazda dealership or even making a quick call to mazda customer service..

I'm almost afraid to post that I haven't had any real problems with my car OR the service department **fervently knocking on wood in between words** The service department is friendly and helpful here, and lucky me, I have a friend on the "inside" He watches out for my baby when I can't be there to do so myself lol
The only thing I've had to take my Mp3 in for was a problem that was one of those things like "you have to be holding your mouth juuuust right for it to do it"...and of course my car was being on it's best behavior the day I choose to take it in Other than that though, everything's perfect **STILL knocking on wood**
