B&M Short Shifters

Hey guys, I've got an order going out for some B&M short throw shifters. Most of you know B&M is considered the best quality out there (and if you didnt, I just told you!). It helps reduce your throw by about 40% making it a true short shifter instead of just shortening the length of the stick like most mods do. This product is nice & makes a big difference. Makes shifting much much smoother. I've got them for 139.95 so e-mail me if you would like me to get ahold of 1 for you.

How does the install go? Also, how does the shifter **** attach? Is it threaded? Can you use the existing boot?

The install is very easy and can be done by anyone with basic technical knowledge. I did mine in 2hrs...but would have finished much faster if I had the right set of pliers for squeezing the locking ring. Serious props to the people at B&M...the install manual is complete w/pics for the 2002 Protege.

Yes it is threaded...and you can use the stock *** if you want...also the stock boot too.

I definitely recommend this shifter.

Greddy, thanks for the info. One last question: how tall is the short throw shifter? I have my current shifter shortened quite a bit, and I don't want one that's too high.

I guess if nothing else, I could take the new one to a machine shop and have them cut and re-thread it.

The B&M is about an inch and a half shorter than the stocker...just right for me...I wouldnt recommend cutting the B&M to make it shorter...the shifts are very precise and solid already...making the top shorter would only complicate shifting rather than promoting it...IMHO.

This is the only pic I have at the moment. I have a MazdaSpeed carbon fiber **** on the B&M shifter.
