My '91 Protege has a '91 Escort GT engine in it currently. The engine has 110k miles and as of a few months ago was running perfectly. I can test it today for you if you want to make sure.
Please respond ASAP as I am sending my car to the junkyard soon.
What part of Kentucky are you located in? I'm in Chattanooga, TN, so it could either be a relatively short or very long drive for you.

Hell the engine/tranny together are worth $300, but the rest of the car isn't worth ****.
Currently with the rest of the car:
-It's spray painted (badly) white.
-All passenger glass has been removed, and the rear window is broken.
-Sunroof is removed
-All interior trim is removed
-Rear seat is out
-A/C compressor/clutch/plumbing is removed.
-E-brake doesn't work and is currently unscrewed.
It's driveable and mechanically in good condition, but I wouldn't want to take it on the drive you'd have to take it on back to Kentucky.
If you still really want it, I'll give you the car for the worth of the engine/tranny: $300.
LMK if you're interested, and I'll keep it around for a little while longer.

It's the same DOHC 4-cylinder 1.8l BP engine in every other first gen Protege LX.
But that's way too much time for me to just leave the car sitting around, honestly. I'd need someone to buy the engine within a week or I'm just throwing it all away. It's taking up too much space.
