Thumbs up GB: Mazda Katzkin Leather Interiors

To all Protegeclub.com Members interested:

Are you sick and tired of waiting for Group Buys to end? Well...this is not a group buy, but an opprotunity to get a custom Katzkin leather interior for your Mazda. We are offering a 20% discount off our regular price of $650. That means you can get your kit TODAY for $520. Don't wait for 15 or 20 buyers...get your kit NOW with the discount. Custom kits are available and options are outlined below. We can help you with the design of your custom kits by recommending the factory match color or you can select from over 50 different color swatches.

Attention To Detail is a fully operational wholesale/retail sales and installation facility. We buy in huge volume direct from Katzkin, and because we are their #1 wholesale restyler in the Northeast, we are able to buy cheaper than our competition. If you’ve never heard of us...check us out. We we're featured, back in November, in Restyling Magazine. You can read all about our shop and see the operation for yourself...click link below.

Restyling Magazine article featuring Attention To detail

Attention To Detail offers 2 types of leather kits, deluxe or regular. Deluxe kit pricing is what is shown below and consists of leather seating surfaces on the 2 front seats (any top surface is leather) and matching high-quality vinyl on the sides and back with map pockets. The back seats will have leather seating inserts and matching vinyl on the rest of the seat. A regular kit will consist of all leather seating surfaces front and back and will cost $85.00 more. All leather kits include door panel inserts where applicable. These are leather covers only, not actual seats and will require installation.

Attention To Detail recommends professional installation, but it can be done with minimal household tools. We offer an installation kit which consists of tools and parts that you would not ordinarily have (hog rings, hog ring pliers and spray upholstery adhesive). Also an optional installation video is available...highly recommended.

These seat covers are manufactured to OEM specs and are stitched exactly the same way as your existing cloth covers. They will have to be installed in place of your existing factory covers, and again, you can order the optional install kit and do it yourself or we recommend having it done by a professional installation facility like ours. ** IMPORTANT ** Our leather kits are fully compliant with vehicles equipped with side airbags mounted in front seat bolsters. All leather kits designed for airbag seats undergo extensive testing before the pattern can be released to ensure proper airbag deployment.

We offer onsite installation for the entire kit. We have a facility located in Middletown, CT. and our crew of trained technicians can install your leather interior within hours of dropping of your car off (same day service). We are eager to work with you in any way we can and look forward to your business. Anyone interested...be sure to post here so that I can start a list. What exactly does the $520 price consist of? Front and back seat covers? Side panels? I see the website states "Consist of side panels if applicable". Does this count for the Protege?

The kit consists of front and back seats and the door panel inserts. Some cars have solid plastic or vinyl doors in which case you really don't need to cover them.

We have the kit for the MX3 for 1992-93 and 1994-97. If you decide to do this it will be extra because they don't do mix match kits. I would have to order the fronts for the MX3 and the rears for whatever Mazda you're driving. It may cost a couple hundred more but I would have to call to get an exact price.

I know its recommended that a professional install these covers, but im a "do-it-yourselfer". Is it really that hard to install these yourself? Is there stapling or stiching involved? How are the door inserts held on?

Anyone know a thread of someone with pics of an install? That would help a great deal for my questions. Thanks.

I think the install is fairly simple. The kit is ready to install and its more or less self explanatory. The doors will require spray adhesive to apply and they would need to be trimmed once installed, but that would be the hardest thing to do. NO SEWING.

There are no specific instructions but the video will guide you in your installation and you can apply the techniques you will learn thru the video. The doors are installed with spray adhesive which is also demonstrated on the video. The warranty is 3yr/36,000mi and I waould recommend leather for any climate. I think its easier to maintain and it won't look shabby like cloth after just a couple of years...don't believe all the misconceptions you hear about leather. If it was so bad do you think the luxury vehicles would all come equipped with it?

Will the leather covers effect the functionality of the LATCH system in the back seat?
