I am looking for a shorty header!

Seriously, the Wagner header isn't that expensive. Regardless of rumors that they are adjusting prices upwards, I bought mine at the price advertised on their website. If cost is an issue, remember that there are different options when ordering one new. I recommend going with at least stainless, but if I recall you might be able to get one in mild steel as well. Mild steel will be cheaper, of course. Give them a call. In my experience, they are great to do business with. Oh, and BTW, this header kicks ***.

Just looked at your stats... no need to salt the roads in warm old Austin, Texas. Mild steel will probably be just fine for you. Here in cold Michigan, one needs to go with the stainless stuff in order to avoid corrosion from road salt. But I don't think you will have a significant rust problem.

hmm, you should call and speak to Andy directly if you can. If you want I can see what I can do for ya. I can use what little pull I have with him!!
p.s. He just bought a mandrel pip bender and his headers/exhausts/intakes will be done on it from now on. Might affect price a bit for us!! (lower). Andy is making me a full exhaust with his pipe bender so I'll be sure to get extensive pics and info for you guys.

...Just call Wagner. Remember, any price you pay for ANYTHING is negotiable, it you talk to the right person. Examples of this philosophy:
1) The estimate to replace the main drain on my house was $2500. I told the guy that if he could do it for $2000 including tax, I would authorize his crew to start the next morning. Result? I only paid $2000.
2) Self-amplified sub for my car. Price at Circuit city was $250. I told the manager I would write them a check, if they could sell it for $220. I paid $220.
3) Rims & tires for my old Neon. Discount Tire asked $1200 for them, out the door, balanced and mounted. I paid $900 for them, noting that I could always drive across town and pay less.
4) Fiance's car asking price was almost 15 grand. Paid $11,200.
I could go on, but I'll stop right here...
It never hurts to ask. The only reason that Wagner might not budge as much as you want them to is simple: if it's gotta be a shorty header, they are the only game in town. However, there are several other options for long headers (OBX comes to mind).

I've called and left a message for Andy to call me back today before I leave. We'll see if I hear from him.
Even at $285 or so it's a steal. To see his work in person and watch him in action...it's amazing. He has an eye for this stuff. Makes me green.
p.s. pop the extra (whatever it is) for the jetcoat that he does. It's worth it. I wish I hadn't spent so much money or I would've bought a jetcoat gun.
