Thumbs up Need Shifter For A 1994 Mazda Protege Only

What's up... I needed a shifter for a 1994 mazda protege manual. I only want one for that year only, because my mechanic says that is the only one that basically will fit. all the other years he has tried for one reason or another didn't fit right. So only a 94 will do. He also said it has to be a shifter that is controlled by the two rods, not the shifter that is controlled by cables... thanxs, ahead of time for this.... my car has been out of commission for almost two months looking for this part. Thanxs, for your help.. Jason

semtex is correct...have you ever read the protege FAQ ? All shifters for mtx protege's from 1990-2003.5 are interchangeable. for that matter all manual escorts from like 1990 to 2003 are interchangeable too. When you says rods and cables, sounds more like you are talking about an automatic...the shifter sits inside the car between two bushings and is held in by a snapring. Underneath the car it is connected to the fork with a simple bolt that pivots inside a nylon bushing.

Angry SHIFTER NEEDED

Ok, let me explain maybe my mechanic, miss enformed me on what actual part it is. It's not the shifter itself, its the plate piece that sits on the floor, its the part the shiter shifts into. On my car, the stick itself fell through the bottom of the car hitting the exhaust, so in other words, if you lift the car up you can actually see the stick that fell through, and is sitting right on the exhaust on the bottom of the car. thats the part I need. thanxs,

I'm pretty sure I have that piece. I have the whole shifter assembly with the linkage and all. From a 91.

Except maybe the AWD ones, those use a cable linkage... but then again... where you gonna find one.

I believe they are all interchangable. But I wanted a newer one, maybe with less wear, so I dont have to through all this crap scavenger hunt again. Maybe if I get a newer one it wont fall apart as quickly, The dealer wanted like $500.00 for a new one , So screw them. jay30mz@hotmail.com

it dont matter if its from a 94 or a 90 how often do u hear of this happen'n honestly this is the first time i have heard of anyones shifter falling threw.. so chances are if u get a one from a 91 or w/e and it is put in right then u wont have a prob.
