I wouldn't if I could, but this isn't a for sure thing yet as I understand it. Used MP3 ECU's go for $300 and I could only find 1 in the US. Plus no down time, 2 way shipping a spare ECU. I'd rather just get reflashed though.

"Ideally" there would be a rotable pool of ECUs. I would pay for a reflash unit and a deposit for my 'core' to be returned within X days. So i could PlugNzoom easily...

Big update guys.....the next update I make will be the new GB thread.

It's official. I've ordered the hardware today.

For those curious to see what I got I'll post the link in a minute.

For those who want to see which maps I'll have access to click here and scroll down a ways until you get to protege 2.0L. These are all the maps I'll get with my subscriptions service.

http://www.mazdatechinfo.com/home/ApplicationChart.pdf

Here is the info on the system and accessories I purchased. The flasher2 can reprogram on and off the car (mazda is on-car only so I'll have to borrow a local car to do the work). It includes all of the cables for:

Ford
GM
Chrysler
Honda / Acura
Toyota / Lexus / Scion
MAZDA!!

http://www.cardone.com/english/club/Promotions.asp

This system will also allow me to print a "before and after" log sheet of each map flashed so you'll know you're getting the work done.

Here's the catch. The system costs a bit more than I thought because I had to buy all of the software packages seperatly. I'm only going to include the charge for the mazda files and I'll eat the cost on the rest since they are for personal use.

FINAL PRICE IS ESTIMATED TO BE $115+shipping...

Who said not interested, sad about the price increase. I'm still in and assume the rest to be also.

i should have the hardware in hand this week. I'll not start a GB until I have everything I need and I've done the work on my local car as proof.

I'd like to see, in the meantime can someone with some dealer connections find me the correct MAP for the MP3...it'll be the name listed in the mazda fs-de maps link above. I'll need to know which map to use when flashing these.

maybe I can find a local mp3 and see his starting filename and just use that....however IIRC there were 3 different mp3 maps...same with the MSP maps.
