The 20%/35% setups look good. But, when I get my P5 I am going to have it tinted this way:
Front Driver/Passenger windows - 20%
All other side windows - 5%
Rear Window - 20%

That might seem extreme to some of you, but I live in Florida. The tint really, really helps keep the car cooler. Also, when I put my child in the car seat, the 5% will help keep the sun out of her eyes. I have 20% all around on my current Mustang GT. In the 15 years that I have lived here, I have never once been cited or even questioned about my tint. I even had 5% all around on an earlier Mustang. The 5% is just a little to dark to see out of at night to use mirrors.

why not get 35% up front and 5% rest? I had 5% all the way around, but its too risky.

Becuase I have had 5% all the way around and it is too hard to see out rear window at night with 5%. I don't want 35% up front, because it is not enough to keep the car cool under the hot Florida sun. If I lived somewhere where it is cooler than here, like back in PA, I would go with 35% (if it were legal). Last I know of, tint of any grade was illegal in PA. But that was 15 years ago.

I have never received a ticket before for 5%, why would it start now. Seriously I have never had higher than 35% on any car I have owned down here and has gone as low as 5% all around without ever being hassled by the cops. For them to cite you they have to be carrying a light meter with them to measure the actual tint. If they do cite you, you can have it fixed and have the fine removed.

I have had it on a few cars 35% front and 20% rears. It looks good and it works for keeping the car cool and legit (at least in my state). To someone who has never really had tint, that is what I would recommend. Or even just go with 35% all around to get started.

Come to new york with that tint and watch how many tickets you get,
Police would pull you over every 2 seconds, not to mention the state troopers

But that is the whole point, I don't live in New York. If I did, I woul dtint with what I was allowed to get away with. And in NY, you don't need it as dark because the heat is not as intense for most of the year. It is 80 deg or above here most of the time, I need my car to be cool. I know it does get hot for a month or 2 in the Summer, I lived in PA for 18yrs and visit often in the Summer. But try it like that for 11 months. We have about 1 month of bad weather.

I was never trying to say that the level of tints that I am going with was for everyone.

I would love to have 5 % on my car, but the only problem I would have is seeing out the rear window when reversing, I have enough problems with 20% on a dark street , do you have this problem when reversing or negotiating turns at night ...

When I had the 5%, I had trouble seeing out the rear window and side window to see the mirrors at night. With 20%, it is not that bad. I can see pretty well to manuever the vehicle. Is it uncomfortable or difficult in any way? NO, at least not for me.

can we see a pic of your car with the 5% ,, I am interested to see what that looks like , I have never seen anyone bold enough to do that in the northeast . Up here you have to be weary about putting 20% on all the windows, cause the police will tend to bother you ..

I will gladly post pics, when I get the vehicle. Which should be later this week or next. Just a reminder though, I said i was going with 20% on driver/passenger and rear window and 5% on the rest of the windows. Not the front, obviously.

Tint finished..

Ok.. I mentioned earlier upthread about getting my windows tinted today, and here are the results.. WARNING- Lots of pictures are in this post..

I had them do 35% on the driver and passenger front, and 20% on the remaining windows. When I dropped the car off, I also decided to have them do a windshield eyebrow as well. Total damage was $156.96 (eyebrow added $15) and total time was just at 3 hours.

Side shot:

Another side shot:

Angle shot:

Eyebrow:

Some of you wanted a shot from the side with someone sitting in the car.. Here is a shot of my wife for reference, followed by a shot of her sitting in the car with the new tint:

Tint has lifetime guarantee, and I noticed the difference inside the car immediately. It was cooler, the AC cooled the car faster, and didn't have to run as long as usual in 94 degree heat to keep us comfortable. The price of our job was a special due to a deal between my wife's gym and the tint shop.. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Nice tint.

Nice wife too

just a suggestion, you may want to use that power window lock so none of your passengers (if any) try to roll down the window.

trust me on that it's a good idea, when i got mine done, the week was pretty hot, and a few day's after work, my brother would try to roll down the passenger windor, i'm glad i had pushed in that button when i picked up the car, or i think he would have fucked up the tint.
