Factory Color Matched Calipers

Factory Color Matched Calipers
Glen (Funky Buddha) and I did the calipers on his car today. I work at a body shop, so I had the paint custom mixed to the factory color. The color is almost spot-on and came out really good. We used 2 coats of each, primer, color, and clearcoat.

Mine are the Mazdaspeed silver, some times I feel like painting them black to be different.. Thing is, I wonder how that'd look. I'll have to Photoshop up something later. Anyone seen them in black?
Also you guys make me jealous of your nice P5s, I almost miss mine now.

Thanks guys..and girl..LOL
Most of the credit should go to Nick(Maxx Mazda) for hooking
me up w/ the paint, and letting me use his garage and tools. Couldn't have done this since I don't have a driveway or garage.
Now I owe him some beer.

is that special paint? or is it the same paint that is used on the body? because i have a silver P5 and i'd like to use that color on my calipers. i think it would look sweet! but i hear you need a special heat resistant paint for them.

Paint - 20-30CDN
High Temp Dupli-Color clear coat - 7CDN
Primer - 4CDN
Labor is the one that's gonna cost you since you have to take the wheels off. I left my calipers on as we couldn't get them off..freakin stupid bolts. I am not sure on labor, as we did it ourselves. I would say it'd prbbly take a max of 2 - 5 hours of labor depending whether they take out the calipers, they use a heat lamp to dry the paint, and the re-assembly of the calipers once they dry and shop fees and clean up and maybe for paint disposal.

If you're doing your calipers Vivid Yellow, MAKE SURE THE BODY SHOP MIXES A SINGLE STAGE PAINT!!! Vivid yellow has no clearcoat, so if you paint the callipers and then spray clear on top, you'll get a whack *** color. The whole point is to match the body.
It took us about 4 hours in total, with the both of us masking, etc. After the masking was done, we used spray cans of primer in 2 coats, then I used my skilled airbrush hand to apply the color in 2 even coats. Followed it all up with 2 coats of clear, and off we went.
Make sure you let each coat flash properly, but don't leave it too long or the next layer won't adhere. Good luck!
