wrong. The middle car is the new Volkswagen GX3. It's powered by a 1.6L Lupo gas engine making 145bhp and pulling 1.2 lateral G's. VW is trying to get lawyers to approve it's sale. Estimated MSRP is $16,990.
If it comes out I'm buying 2.

It needs a bigger rear sway bar.
But srsly, wouldn't a 3-wheel car understeer like crazy due to zero rear roll stiffness? Maybe not--the rear "track" is much smaller than the front. I'd love to drive it and see! In any event 145 hp on such a lightweight chassis would be great fun.
Guarantee it won't come out here though.

i like the modded porsche at the top.
i've never been a fan of 3 wheelers (except the big wheels when i was a kid), so for me, even as the atom is a good chunk more change, i'd take it hands down over the vw concept--in overall aesthetics, stance, visual weight, and how "fun to drive" it looks.

yes, I'm 100% certain of the price. $16,990USD. The GX3 uses a lot of current production parts from other vehicles that will be sourced for the car.
The only hang up right now is that VW's legal people in the US think that if someone dies in this thing (which they will) that VW parent company will get sued for building it. Legal people supporting the production of the GX3 have offered to "rent" the production facilites in order to build the car as their own product thus relieving any legal responsibility from VW....last I heard they didn't have enough money to work the deal.

hmm, i don't know what their legal people are thinking, because then you could have ferrari getting sued because people die in those cars when they crash them bad enough or whatever. i wonder if they've ever heard of driver training or at least "drive at your own risk." i wonder if they're even thinking of bikers...talk about risk. some people think they have others' best interests in mind and tell them "oh this is too dangerous for youuu." please.
people want it, use the ariel atom vehicle precedent, and build it for those who want it. the drivers know what they're doing and will use common sense and discretion in where and how they drive, i say.
