Thumbs up Pair of Proteges

So, on Wednesday I washed and waxed my wife's Pro (42,000 miles), then Thursday I did my Pro5 (9000 miles). Both nice and shiny now, so I thought I'd take a picture of the pair of them:

Am I a poster child for Mazda or what?

Looks great! What is that little light coming out from the blue Pro's corner turn signal housing?

Thank you, thank you--I was so happy with how they both looked that I just couldn't resist posting the pic.

Negatize, I think that's just glare from the flash.

Hey, Menace, did you ever get that zoom-zoom sticker I sent you?

I think they look sweet ,,, which reminds me of how much I need to wax my bobo ,,.. I love that freshly waxed look , nothing like snapping a few shots of the car afterwards

My family's Mazda Life: (when I mean Gen, I mean the different times we bought a car)

First Gen: '96 MPV 4x4

Second Sec: '99 Protege "Tourin", '98 MPV 4x4 Sport (traded in the '96)

Third Gen: B2000 Pickup

Forth Gen: 2001 LX Tribute (traded in B2000)

So if you check out my driveway, we've got a '99 Pro, '98 MPV, and '01 Tribute! Looks shweet!! I gotta take a picture...

(Cept my bro's crap '01 Pathfinder is in the middle of all of it.)

Menace--don't worry about it--I just wanted to make sure it got there. The USPS hates me personally and I seem to have a lot of bad luck with the mail.

Thanks, islandpro. One thing that really became clear doing the two of them on consecutive days: the Pro5 is a bitch to wax compared to the LX. There are all those nooks and crannies and the sunroof and the roof rack and man, did it take me longer... Waxing also makes a much bigger difference on the blue one than on the silver one.

Yeah, it's fun having two. They're just enough different from one another that switching cars for a day or whatever is creepy. Hers has the black gauges, mine are white. Hers is an auto, mine's a stick. She has the 1.6, I have the 2.0.

But of course, they're both 3rd gen Pros, so they still feel so similar... My first test drive of a P5 was an automatic, though, so it was "OK, it's just like my wife's car, except faster and stiffer, and everything's black except the dials..." That meant I *had* to get the stick...

So, pimp, what made you switch from the Millenia to the Protege?

Better Car for the money, Millena's were garbage With a capital "G".

I think the protege Is faster then the regular Millena anyways, plus the handling is better and it gets better gas mileage.

Fair enough--the latest Consumer Reports didn't have much nice to say about 'em either.
