Woman from out of town driving a 01 Neon decided to turn across oncoming traffic [me] about three feet in front of my car. I had no chance to stop. She said she never thought to check the oncoming curb lane. Stupid.

Depreciation Reimbursment

I don't know if I spelled that right. Anyways, make sure you tell the insurance company to pay you for the depreciation of your car due to the accident. My wife got rear-ended and the other persons insurance paid us $1800 for the depreciation of the car. Not many people know this, so the insurance companies dont say anything about it. If they say no, threaten a law suit, trust me, you WILL win. All that $$$ can go to mods.

Trust me. I tried to get the MP3 bumper. But the rebar and bumper had "no availability". I could be waiting for months before I would get it. And I can't risk not having wheels for that long. And the insurance company will only pay for my rental for up to the time it would take for original parts to be replaced.

So unfortunately I'm out of luck there. I was really hoping on getting it too.

And Ben, thanks for the info on that. I hope it'll work. I'll get right to that.

Don't let them bully you!

If the accident wasn't youre fault, they have to give you extra money for depreciation. Just stay firm with them. Another good idea is to call any Mazda dealer and ask how much an accident like your's will depreciate the trade in value. This way you have a base amount that they should give you for the accident. Call several dealers though. I called 4 dealers, the highest was $2500 and the lowest was about $1000. So I thought I'd settle for $1800 when they offered it. They have to though, it's the law.

Hey NewfieP5.

Yeah. You probably have seen me at the lot throughout the summer. Although we haven't usually stayed too long what with my car being "near-stock".

Now the spring I'm gonna be all over the place. We are putting in the DVD/VCD/CDR/CDRW/MP3 player and 7" motorized in-dash monitor in January and I have a set of 17" Giovanna Kyoto Chromes wrapped in Yokohama Prada's coming in time for spring. So she'll be looking reeeaal nice on the lot then

sweet i was thinking on chrome rims too but i'm gonna get white 17" 5 zigens (5zr'ss) or 17" Tenzo R RS5's...that and possibly exhaust..if i dont get a full catback I might get the Pro5 sport exhaust (muffler)

I'll have to check out your system when the spring/summer rolls around..

How could it take so long to get a MP3 or P5 bumper? My point is, what if a P5 or MP3 gets wrecked? The parts (usually bumper or fenders) are needed ASAP. Try again to see if you can get that bumper. A P5 bumper will also work, but there will be holes at the sides of the bumper where the reflector lights are supposed to go. Have your body shop cover those up with bondo because you don't need them (your headlights' amber corners do the job).
The bumper for the P5 was not the problem. The rebar behind the bumper that's required to mount it on would be on backorder. That means that if your P5 or MP3 [which share the same rebar] gets into an accident the parts would be put on backorder.
