20 MPH? I dunno bout that dude. I was hit at 40 MPH more than I believe and it rip my rear bumper bad! If only I have a pic I'll post, I'm telling ya mine has hardly noticeable from a distance and it was at 40 MPH. 20MPH is BS I think, well I dunno bout the physics of where and how you were hit. My .02 cents.

I'd say just a bit over 25 mph on that accident......
remember, if it's a truck, the bumper is right at the level of the tail light so when it hits, it goes through our Pro like butter.
I was involved in a 25 km/h (about 12-15 mph) accident and the quarter panel was crunched quite a bit, but no structural damage (frame was untouched).

Back in May I hydroplaned in my old LX and hit a highway center median divider (concrete wall) at an estimated 20mph. Did over $5000 in damage to the car, and I ended up getting my P5..
The entire rear end of the car was moved about 5" laterally. Trunk floor was rippled past the rear seat..

Ok for those of you that haven't heard what happened...
The car was parked on the side of the road in front of our apartment building and when we went out the next morning to leave for work it was sitting about 10 ft down the road from where we parked it. As we walked up from the drivers side it looked like some punk kid had just busted out the tail light, but then we saw the real damage. The girl told the cops she was only going 20 mph, but even the cops said that was hard to believe, but unlucky for us Monmouth (the little town outside of Salem we live in) isn't trained on accident reconstruction so that couldn't prove she was speeding so they didn't cite her for anything. Which personally I think is BS considering it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it was careless driving considering she had to go up and over the curb to hit his car the way she did.
Lucky for us the girl did leave a note on the car that said "I hit your car this morning here's my insurance info" and left her insurance card with it. So lucky for us her insurance is going to have to cover it, the only problem is her insurance company is a joke. It took us a month to even get anyone to come out and look at the car so we could take it to a body shop and get a complete estimate. And when the adjuster finally did come and do an estimate it was from our insurance not hers. Lucky for us our insurance cut us a check to cover things so we could get the car in the shop, but they are going after her inssurance for the full cost including the $500 deductable.
So far the car has been in the body shop for about three weeks, but that's because of all the extras we're getting done with her money . Since we had to replace the front and back bumper we decided to do a custom body kit. The front end and side skirts actually came from a kit for 98 Civic, but they are refiberglassing things so it will fit right. Then they are making a custom add on lip for the back bumper and fiber glassing that in too. On top of that we're getting the trunk completely shaved, new tail lights, and a new wing. They are taking their time on all the body mods to make sure it is all show quality so we're not toally sure how much longer it's going to take. So far they've got the trunk done and are almost done with the front bumper. We'll post some pictures as soon as we get some. We're hoping it will be done by the beginning of next month.

Just a little update on the wrecked Protege....
As of today the poor cars been in the body shop for 9 FREAKIN MONTHS!!! That's longer than we even get to drive the car before it got wrecked!!! Anyway, the poor thing has kinda been neglected because my boyfriend got more into street racing and decided to get a motor swap in his Civic hatchback, but that's ok cause that's good news to me. Since he's moved on and has another project now I get control of the Protege. I can't wait for it to get out of the shop. Now that I'm the one waiting for it I'm going to try and get things moving a little faster. Especially since it still has to go the Mazda shop when it's out of the body shop to get the motor kicked. I've got to get things moving though cause there is a large car show in Seattle the middle of July and I'd like to have it ready to show. So I'm going to keep bugging them until they get there sh*t together and start doing something productive!
