Protege 5 vs. Matrix XR
Today a few members from the CPC decided to go to the track for Mazda's Sport Compact Challenge. Maxx Mazda entered into the competition, but was beaten in the 2nd round. There was a dealer sponsored XR that was also eliminated in the 2nd round, and they decided they would race each other to see who had the fastest hatch...Maxx of course has a CAI and Mazdaspeed exhaust on 17s while the XR also had a CAI and Borla exhaust with a full TRD suspension rollin on 19s...who won? watch the video (BTW the announcer kept calling the PR5 the "Protege S" LOL!"
BTW the play by play was by me, unfortunately one of them screwed up staging and I ran out of memory, so I had to give out the specs during the race :P

Yep, it wasn't that great of a day to race...some who ran consistent 12's were running 14's to give you an idea of the track conditions. the LX 2.0 ran 19's...BTW to explain the format, they didnt use the head up usual drag, you gotta decide on a dial in time, and it will determine when you will go against your competitor, ie. your dial in is 18 and your competitor is 19, he gets a 1 second head start...also if your final time is below your dial in time, you are disqualified...hence why the 19 second LX 2.0 won first (last run dial in 19.00...ran 19.05 ) and the MSP lost as he had a dial in of 16.25 and ran a 16.13.

It was a bracket-racing format which was killer if you were consistent. That LX that beat me in the second round, although it ran 19's because it was auto it was consistent as hell. That's what counts in bracket-racing.
That Titanium MSP there has 1,040 Km on it, all of them from racing. It was first driven on the strip with a whopping 70Km on the Odometer (brand new) and now has some bad *** turbo leak and is as inconsistent as your grandmother's bowel movements. Sad to see, but it's Mazda Canada's car so oh well.
