Sweet Burnout Pics

My Dad jsut bought some new Michelin Pilot Sport run-flats for his 2000 Vette, and since they're getting put on tomorrow, we decided it's a shame to throw away old tires with tread still left on them!

So, the pics tell the story. Just a few, but I think they're sweet. The last one (the rollout pic) he held the longest. It was still only like 30 seconds before he rolled out, but plenty of smoke!

Before you say that I have a story.

I just walked out into the garage, and the whole damn place stunk of clutch. My Dad did 3 burnouts today, but on the first one, something funny happened. Neither tire moved, but there was alot of smoke and clutch smell. (Forgot to take the E-brake off.)

He said that on the way home it chattered like a ****, and ever since the first burnout it's felt funny.

At first we kinda just brushed it off. He thought the smoke was from one of the tires but I swear neither of them moved, and since he has an LSD I can be sure of it. The smoke came from elsewhere. If it did come from the clutch, how did it get out of the housing?

So, is it possible that he burnt out the clutch? He's got some engine work done, and dynoed at 385 FWHP. I always thought that the car would just stall if something like that happened, but I guess it might be burnt out. I feel pretty bad since it was me who kinda "pushed" him to do some smokies.

I hope everything turns out OK, but I just thought someone here may have some experience in the field.

385 whp to the clutch and the ebrake is on , so it can't get to the wheels and just stays at the clutch ...
you wonder if his clutch is gone,,,
yup it is gone ...
tell your dad to drive it a little and take it easy , see if things heal up or the chatter goes away...
otherwise, I think this may be the perfect time to get that performance clutch he has wanted... shoot I wish my dad would listen to me and buy a 2 door performance car, lol ... so I can drive it

Well, if he was standing on the brakes too hard, the e-brake wouldn't have had to been on, the rears would be locked up regardless.

He drove it down today to get the tires put on and he says it's chattering real bad. Think he'll go with a 4 puck now!

You avatar is funny...ha ha looks like you're about to run into something.

Sorry to hear about Le Vette. That'll teach your dad to learn the basics before he tries something more advanced LOL.

J/k hope it works out ok.

Oh yeah, how much did he pay for the vette?

Sorry to hear about the clutch, but what did you put on the ground to do the burnouts in? And why?

We jsut used dish soap and a bit of water. Just to take more wear off the tranny.

Yes, it does, but it also get all over the paint as it is kicked up in the burnout. Do you think bleach is good for the paint?

Well the only vehicles that I've do it to were trucks with mudflaps, and nothing (even rubber) stuck to the paint
