Well no one ever post and just quits, so I thought Id say it. I kinda like your car. Looks nice, but I think I would end up jerking that stickshift out of the dash! Thats just funky!

haha i feel like a hypocrite for posting again after i said i wouldnt.
lol yeah you have a point i found myself checking up to see what response i would get, but was dissapointed. I like the 3 as a car overall, it has WAY more ammenaties than its competitors, but perfomance wise i think it is not on the same level as other "sport compacts." Its probably faster than the Si stock, but it the k-series motors respond really well to mods...gaining 30-35 whp with just bolt ons is something very impressive....
thanks for the compliments on the ride tho . I originally didnt like the shifter there either to tell you the truch. After driving it the first week i got used to it and now i prefer it there. Its weird

this is k20importtuner from i-vtec.net, and others.. I have to say...
its funny that a stage I turbo(cybernation we'll talk about) for $3800 increases over 100% whp over stock, and with only that can boost up to 20 psi which is well over 350 whp, 13psi is pushin 300
and how with that one turbo a new Si can run low 13s, very very low
Civic Si's are already running 12s, and an rsx with a full N/A race prepped motor holds a track record for natural fwd aspiration at 8.8 seconds
havent seen a lot of proteges at any track, lol have you guys made it to 13s yet?(sorry to be... kind of an ******* on that question im just wonderin)
also... like another user mentioned... if you're proteges are so good unlike our joke cars, how did you guys get replaced by the mazda 3?

This question was posed to Mazda owners who are outrunning Si's.....there's a lot of them here. Getting into arguments over whose engine is technically more advanced is stupid and waste of time/bandwidth.
New civic's are junk compared to a LOT of manufacturers but Mazda REALLY humbles everyone else who entered a compact car into the market the past 2 years.
saying anything more than "you're right. " will make you look foolish. It's ok to state opinions but arguing a fact is kinda dumb.

Thats why I didn't argue. Yea they have us in the mod department. And yes they have us in the 1/4 mile (some times, not all the times). But I would kill them in circut track. That just might be our saving grace, that and the WOMP!

Yeah, i was beggnining to think that my friends CRX si is over rated...it has a decent motor with w $600 fuel system and its a tiny tiny hatch...not to mention his speedometer doestn work...so id say he may not go as fast as he says...my 110mph(so far) is good compared to it being a 1.8 n/a intake ,exahust, etc...SEDAN!..but anyways...I didnt even know they made new Sis and after reading some reviews....the New Si's are nothing compared to some new cars...

how so are my posts the essence of a troll? Just because you dont own the car for which the forum is named after doesnt make you a troll. Im a member of several forums that dont even involve hondas, i just like to visit every once in a while and see what is cooking.
Like i said, its unfair to compare the 7th gen civic coupes and sedans to the 3. The 3 came out years after them. I will completely agree with you that the 3 is a better overall car than the 7th gen coupes/sedans. Its probably the best entry right now as far as a introductory market compact car.
You cannot seriously think that the N/A engine technology in the 3 is better than the k-series. I mean i know that mazda stepped up with the new 2.4, but it is not in the same ballpark. Just like the 1.8t is not in the same ball park compared to an SRT engine. K-series motors have been recorded making over 270 whp N/A. People have been modifying their k20a3(civic si engine) with ITR parts and getting over 220 whp.
Boostin the K-series is even more astounding. As i said, people easily get over 300 whp with 10 psi. These motors can withstand deaily driving of 14 psi once you throw a fuel return line in there. The k20a2 in the rsx only needs low compression pistons to make over 400 whp on otherwise stock internals. The engine technology in these cars is top tier man. Ignoring that would truly be foolish.
i recognize my cars weakness. Yes its slow from the factory, yes it looks like a minivan on stock ride height, yes it can be mistaken for a door stop . At the same time i think you need to step off your pulpit and realize that what you own is just a mazda, just like my car is just a honda. It may be built on a european platform, but that doesn't change the nature of the car. Hell my car is made in Brittain.
Mazdas 3 is a great car, im not putting it down at all. Its probably one of the cars i have recommended most to some of my friends that arent into racing. Its a well buit car with great value for the money.....Thats just the thing tho, this thread was not about which car has has the most complete package. It was about what car was faster.. Ive yet to see any 3s at the track. I am a track ***** even though i only have a couple of modifications. Ive run into a few on the street, and ive yet to lose. Im not saying im unbeatable or anything, because in realiity a civic running 14.7 isnt fast at all, but no 3 has come within 2 cars of beating me on the street. With 300 more dollars in mods i could be running low 14s on this motor...but in not going to bother, im sticking a TSX motor in here come spring break.
I havent really looked at your drag/racing section, so i dont really know what the best time is for this car. IM pretty damn confident tho that i will not be superior to the Ep3 (Si) Civic.
As far as ignoring facts:

^^definately sounds like an opinion, not a fact to me. Unless of you are a fountain of divine knowledge, in which case id like you to help me out with some Calc 2 problems
As i said, the 3 came out in what, 2004 right? Of course its going to be better equipped than its older competition, if it wasnt then Mazda wouldnt sell very many of them. Im not going to lie, id take a 3 over most choices given if i had to choose a daily driver, but i would def look for alternatives if i had real performance on my mind. The tC is a much better comparison to the 3 than the 5 year old civic design of the EM2 7thgen civic.

Many magazines badmouthed the Ep3 (new si) when it came out. ALOT of people have jumped on the "the new si's are slow bandwagon" without actually racing them...Youd be surprised to know how many people come up to me when i visit the track to compliment the ride and ask me what im running. People got a bad image of the new si from magazine's initial reviews. Im just here trying to help even things up. While it is true that it isnt very impressive from the factory, youd be hard pressed to find another N/A sport compact that will respond better to mods.

Youll just have to live with the fact that hondas are the cars people love to hate if they don't have one. It seems everyone has a honda if they want to built a car. We kinda like to be differant here. Its a little harder to get the protege to run with the hondas and when we do get to that point there tends to be alittle more pride in it for us. I personally don't like the norm and that was another big factor in buying this car. I still haven't raced a honda, or anyone for that matter. So I wont say I can beat them but I'll have to see one day.

Wow ! This thread went WAY out there. The civic SI is a great car...Stock for stock a Mazda3s is faster. Period. Comparing modded SI's is hardly fair since no one as yet has heavily modified a 3. And let's face it, on a road course Civics are toast. The 3 has to race well outside its class since in class there is no competition. Someone mentioned 3's at the strip ?? What about Civics at the track ???? Wait, I think i hear crickets.

I havent yet seen a mazda car that couldn't give a honda a run for it's money. Have you ever noticed how many car companies have paterned there designs after mazdas? hond seems to be the only one that doesn't.

Stock for Stock i think you guys need to realize that you car is not even close to being above everything in its class as far as performance. Whats even funnier is how alot of you guys are P5 owners. Your cars dyno at like what 110 whp? lol Sorry, unless you're heavily modded (like this kid i know cWill), you need to look in the mirror when calling people slow. I recognize that my car's best as far as stock goes is probably mid 15s...pretty slow if you ask me.....but i doubt that your 3 is running time that will OUTCLASS it or anything else in its class...especially since you guys have admitted being slower than Spec-vs, which are like 3 tenths faster than stock si's. I looked in the track section of this forum and all i heard was crickets....not too much action going on here guys, just being frank
In order to outclass everyone in its class the 3 would have to take on the spec-v and srt...two cars that would beat the 3 senseless.
