Talking Doood! I oowwwnnned a Geo Metro!

1 am teh w1nnnerr!!

Look, i wasn't trying to get in a race with a pimply metro - i have pride. BUT...

Two lane road that widens to four lanes and then goes back to two shortly past the light. The mommy-van that had been pulling the train pulled to the left lane. The Geo Metro pulled to the right (but *way* short of the light). So ipulled up behind the Metro.

Before the light turns - the metro begins a rolling start to jump the green!

When the light turned the momster just pokey-poked away. I *planned* to whip around her and beat the Metro (still in the right lane).

Pimpy in the Metro cuts me off in the left lane forcing me to gun it (and catch second to pass him. As i look over he has that big doofus grin...

Sigh. 'good kill'. At least i didn't let him get away with it!

-peace-

I don't know.... I kind of like the Metro. I mean, it would suck to lose a race to one. But I've never driven any other car that when revved up to 5,000rpm sounded distinctly like a kid was trying to pass me on a Moped. I've also never seen a bigger, or more red hazard button than the crimson chunk of plastic protruding from the Metro's cluster like a little phallus to safety. And the thin doors don't really slam with a clunk; more like the sound of dropping that Folger's can you keep filled with odd nails and screws out in your garage. And the throbby little three pot engine is just this side of a lawnmower. Yesiree, it's kind of like a B-movie - it's so terrible that it is actually fun and amusing. Oh, by the way... I never owned the car I drove, lest you think me a pansy for even driving one.

No, i didn't think i would lose - i just though it funny that METRO would try to lay smack on a P5! Who does a Metro race? a city bus? A loaded 18wheeler? A diesel Mercedes? A four cyl S-10 with an auto?

I know the answer to that one! Haven't you seen those made-in-China pocket bikes at the auto parts store recently?

Hey, don't knock 18 wheelers, I drove a 575hp (cat)Peterbuilt! 100 mph with 80,000 lbs on the back. Had to make it from Austin to El paso in 12 hrs! Just to let you know its a 14+ trip!

There was a Suzuki version of this little car that was pretty quick, though. Swift GT, if I recall.

And, you could buy a turbo version of the car in Canada, sold as the Pontiac Firefly. I have no idea how quick the Firefly was, but the naturally aspirated Swift GT was just that - swift.

we were just merging onto the highway, so i sped up, and when i looked in my rearview he was getting farther and farther away....

later on he tells me he was flooring it lol....
