Hey guys im about to go race a 240sx..
A friend of mine has a 1994 or 95 i cant really remember stock 240.
I want to race him just to see how my car stacks up.
Heres the head to head stats.
240:
155 HP
5 speed
Pro:
130 (so says mazda )
Automatic (im a fool)
Here are the similarities:
About same weight
No engine mods.
Major Advantage on my side:
Mine is newer and it had better suspension.
Major Advantage on his side:
Alot more Hp
5 speed.
Ill be back later with results and comments

Oh ya i dont expect to beat him, i just want to see what my car CAN do.
And obviously if i do hang in with him pretty good that should discontinue any acusations(sp?) of the Pro's HP being anything less than 130.

Hate t osay it but he's probably gonna beat you, not by much though. The 240SX has more torque than horsepower and the fact that they are RWD helps. Only factor I can figure is that the Protege may have a better midrange/top end than the 240. Anyway, good luck and let us know how you did.

No, you won't beat him. I own a 1993 240sx - it is older, but it is more sport-oriented, and it owns my P5. Not sure about the S14s, but the S13s ('89-'94) weigh a tad less than the Proteges, with more RWHP and TQ, RWD, and a much stronger tranny (can withstand up to 450hp). The Protege does not, in fact, have a 'better' suspension. It is newer, but the 240sx handles as good as or even better (.89g IIRC).
The only way you'd win is if the guy doesn't know how to drive a stick.
Oh, and you have an automatic? Be prepared to lose horribly...

Actually, I think you'll get slaughtered. I used to have a 91 Stanza 5spd which used the KA24E single cam variant of the KA24DE twin cam in the 240. Even in my Stanza I could easily hang with or beat most V6 automatics. If he doesn't beat you- he's doing something really wrong.
