Not everyone can be a racer...

hey, i love manual transmission cars, the response is a lot better and it gives the driver the control he or she may desire. but my automatic eases my mind, i mean, i'm not the most hand eye co-oridinated individual in the world, but having to use both of my feet to accelerate through gears, needing to use one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the shifter basically defeats the purpose for me driving at all. when i drive, i love to cruise and relax, smoke a cigarette, juice up the stereo, etc. and not have to worry about jerkin a shifter around. but to each his own. my automatic whips the pants off any 3 cylinder geo out there and at least 1 5 cylinder volvo station wagon

Tru, there are a lot of automatic drag cars out there. Also basically anything you can do to an manual, you can do to an auto.
I drive a auto also, for the time being, but lets face it. AUTOs SUCK ***. They are no fun at all. That is why I'm swapping mines out in the next couple months. I HATE autos with a passion. I love driving my friends cars. I'm like the only on with an auto.

Most real race cars have a kinda auto/manual. You push a button to shift gears, no clutch or nothing. It's an air shifter. But if i was gonna go all out racing i would definately wanna do it with an auto. The time between shifts is a lot quicker. You just gotta change the chip or whatever to the tranny to shift at different rpms, but if you could do that an auto would own a manual. Well thats just my opinion anyway. Autos aren't made to waste gas, and shift at redline, they conserve it.

dude sorry but if there was a clone of my car and everything was the same except for the tranny....it was an auto......i would kill it.....
if i find out somebody wants to race me with an auto it gives me the upper hand...
i don't see how anyone who knows how to drive a manual could pefer an auto in a race....

I bet you wont see any pro mods or top fuels that are stick shift. I f I like my dad were driving a 1300 hp blown alcohol w/ the hat (buzzard catcher) small block 400, I sure would not want to jank with a clutch.
