MattyP vs Mustang GT...
Sorry Mike just had to do it to some local yokle.
I went out to Bama like promised to finish the grudge match. They were closing down when I got there @ 10pm so I headed home instead
Legal disclaimer ahead....
MattyP vs "FLAKGT" (03 GT, intake, exhaust, pulleys)
0-70mph MattyP by 4 lengths (I shut down when I got that far ahead and saw him still spinning)
30 kick - MattyP by 2.5 Lengths (shut down at a reasonable speed and was pulling when I did)
60 -140 - MattyP by a fender (I was walking away in 5th and he started pulling me in 6th. I shut down about 133-ish)
Me 3

that's an interesting trend where the higher speeds you two started at, the less of a win margin you had. i'm not taking anything away from you, just makes me wonder about the power and torque bands of the two cars. does the Speed6 peak it's power or torque earlier in the revs or late like an S2000?
the win margins seem to indicate a nice thick chunk of power in the middle of the revs (for the MS6) and a trailing off at the high end. having driven a last gen (03 or 04) GT, though limited, i know they really get going past about 4000. so an intake and exhaust would probably bring more of that high end nature out, especially as it is a smaller twin cam v8. do you think this is the case or are there other factors that led to the trend in win margins.....or do just not care, because we can do that too.

you're exactly right. My car is prime o run between 3000-5000rpms. Anything over or under is either lag or inefficiency.
The mustang had a lot more power but was unable to put it to the ground in the lower gears at lower speeds. On the top end He was unable to keep up until I got into 6th gear. I was pretty impressed with how well I did and the kid I beat had no clue what happened.
4cyl ftw.

Its seems to be pretty common for mazda 4 bangers to have middle power bands like the 3k-5k that matty is seeing, cause thats what I notice in my protege(02 lx) too as well as the one i was driving today('98 es). Comments plz

i can say for my lx 1.5, phals, once i'm hit 4000 it's a good time relative to 95 hp--the intake i put on it helps it breathe a lot better. the hp peak is supposedly at 5500, and thinking about it, it's generally the best between 4000-5500. so, not so much go in the middle due to the fact that it's such a small engine but i understand your observation.
i think, for the regular mazdas, tuning for the middle is good because most drivers aren't going to be driving their cars to redline a lot, so to cater to their everyday driving habits they tune for more low to midrange power for good traffic maneuvering.
i have a friend that recently swapped a 3gte (2.0l turbo 4 cyl engine) into his 1991 mr-2. before that he had a 5sfe (2.2l n/a motor) in it with a cold air intake. you talk about midrange punch with no high end, this was the motor. past about 5000, the thing just didn't move fast. shifting up, the revs dropped to 3200 or so and you felt the push again. of course he was an exhaust job away from nearly eliminating that problem. 240sx's are the same way.

whatever troll...we are talking about 99-04 Mustangs, not the earlier ones...Your Slobalt Crapalier SS will get destroyed from a dig by a 99-04 GT...roll racing might be even, but only ricers race from a roll...uncle bens or not

yeah, cobalts are jokes. My supercharged p5 beat one when they first came out and I was only putting down 160whp. Now I'm putting down closer to 260awhp...they wouldn't stand a chance.

I've beaten three '99-'04 GT's. My dream car is an '03-'04 Cobra. The 2v 4.6 is a dog. 4v is the way to go. BTW, I don't own the cobalt SS anymore. I'm stuck with an SUV and a slow mazda3. It's a great car, but it's not for racing fun. BTW, my SS dyno'd 231whp with GM stage II (3" pulley, 42lb injectors and upgraded factory ECU tune) and a K&N filter. I liked it because it had a warranty.
Also, before calling me a troll I also used to own a '00 GT w/ a V-1 Vortech blower @ 9psi. I only talk from personally experience, not absolute truth. Everyone has their own wins and losses.
