My First Race.

recently bought a protege lx 2001, stock except cosmetics and and intake, and tonight was the first time someone challenged me. i live in south dakota, and theres a little place out in the farmland-areas where theres a straight stretch where apparently people go to race, (no cops or anything) the guy who challenged me was in a 2004 dodge neon (the sporty cool-er of the dumb looking things) we lined up, and had a buddy jump out to flag us.
on the downstroke, we took off, and kept good time with each other until i hit second gear, and began to gai a bit, got all the way up to fifth and by the time we finished, i was 2 car lengths ahead of him.

all i can say about that, is my baby done me right tonight. man i love this car.

The 2nd generation Neons are heavier/slower. The 1st gen was a SCCA autocross "ringer" for many years. Sadly, both are still Chyrsler products, and neither hold up well in the long run.

If it was the "sporty cooler looking of the dumb things" and a 2004 modle. It would be a Neon SRT-4 and he would have blown your dick in the dirt brotha............

SR4-T too much "Boy-Racer" Hey Look At Me for my tastes. Goes like a striped-assed ape no doubt though. I like having a MP cuz you don't "see yourself" on every street corner. YBNORMAL?

dude is right about the srt4. that bastard would have left you in the dirt. you would have seen the back of his car. You dont want to race one of those, unless you have a evo or and sti. then you can spank that chyrsler's ***. anyways, have fun with the mazda. they have enough power and damn good handling. you cant find handling as good as a mazda's handling.

Hate to correct you guys, but there is a better/sprotier looking Neon besides the SRT-4. Its the SXT, and it's just an appearance package. It is heavy and slow. Nice kill ....I killed a 96 Mustang GT last night in my MX-6 GT!! cant wait to run against a MSP !

well there is a mazda that can take out an SRT-4 without much sweat....which is the RX-7

stock it should be able to nicely take out the SRT-4... then when u start modding, then all i say is show the SRT-4 a nice backfire while ure at it, and play around a bit, maybe short shift

Let me get my boost controller and a bigger exhaust and then I might be able to hang with it for at least a minute. Know what I mean. The MSP are pushing I believe 4 to 5 PSI stock. I can raise it to at least 7 or 8 PSI and add about 30 to 40 hp. I could raise it more but I dont want to mess up my car. I raced a Honda SI hatchback the other night and wooped his ***. He hung with me to about mid way through second gear. After that, I left his ***. He was just a dot in my rear view
