My protege and My friend's impreza got killed by an Evo8

well. I drive a 96 protege..auto...with custom intake and sports muffler.
my friend drives a 97 impreza..manual..with sports muffler.

One day we were leaving uni, and we stopped at the lights. There were 2 lanes, my friend's impreza was at the front, I was behind him, and a Mitsubishi Evolution 8 is beside him. When the light turns green, my friend accelerate hard on his impreza...making this LOUD AS noise....so I hit my acc to the floor too. I think the Evo8 know we were going hardout, so he hitted it too, his car rockets 1-2 car infront of my friend's impreza....and i was about to kiss my friend's impreza's ***, so I change lane and over take the impreza. I was so happy, thought i could catch up to the evo8, I was quite crazy (dumb) that day, so i flashes light to him...to make him even more "angry"..hahah...so he acc hard again, I saw smoke pouring out from his stock exhaust....then his car goes like a rocket!! And he turned to another road....while me and my friend stopped at the next light...looking at each other like O_O

speechless..........the Evo8 are fast~~~~~

Unless you pure a lot of money into your car theres just no catching them. But look at it this way, They paid 30k for theres and I only paid 11k (new in June 03) for mine! Add 6k for the supercharge and that still leaves me 13k less than what the paid and you can ram that Mazda grill up that tale pipe! HEHEHEHE one day soon!!!!

there are several types of NA impreza, the 2.5rs is the most powerful with 165 hp. . the 2.2liter version makes something like 130-142 depending on the year, i could be wrong

I'm pretty sure that guy from taiwan would put up an awesome match against an evo8....

he had about 300whp i believe, at liek just over 1 bar of boost (1bar = 14.7psi)

and he had the looks to back up his power HAHAHA (i thought i'd put it this way, cuz everyone puts it the other way [power to back up looks])

his thread is somewhere in this picture section, hold on i'll find it for u...

ok it was 1.2bar and 280whp

but here is the thread

300ps @ engine, 280ps @ wheels click the link to goto the thread....

and here is what his car looks like

Thread to his cars pics

most awesome protege i have ever seen

now lets see him up against an evo8

4.9 to 60mph. that has to be one heck of a supercharger to cut 3+ seconds off. not even mattys WOMP could do that!

Am I the only one who can't quite understand why people are surprised that an econobox with a power-sapping automatic gets smoked by a street legal rally car?

Cris (I think that is his name) at Wagner said he smokes the EVO8 all the time in his pro. Now he could be full of it but until he is provin wrong Ill believe him.

If that is true, I think we can be pretty certain it's not a basically stock 92 horsepower engine, with about half the power to weight ratio of an Evo 8 right?

the EVO has about 260 lbs of torque, but the RX8 has 153. as carrol shelby put it, horsepower sells cars, torque wins races. yes, the evo would stomp the rx8 and anyother mazda product this side of the 787B, the question is if it will last, which i highly doubt. look at the SRT4 neon - 250 hp, but its from a turbo putting out 14lbs of boost. dont tell me that the engine would last past 175k miles. that would have hella internal strengthening required for that much boost. dont get me wrong, i like both cars. if given the choice, i would take the SRT4 cause it is cheaper and more bang for the buck, but overall i would take a STI over anything. the only problem is the clutch/transmission is weak in it.

my 0.02

correct me if im wrong on any of the stats, this is from memory...
