Cool N/A RX-7 vs. '01 Mustang GT (V8)

Ok so i was letting protege menace (John) drive a round in my car. We are going on a road when this 80's celica come from behind us and wanted to play, so we get to a red light and both take off. John didn't even take it past 5,000 RPMS and we beat that ****** by a couple carlengths

Well some guy in a 01 GT was behind the celica and saw that we wanted to play. But he didnt even wanna race us when we were by him. but then he saw the dual tailpipes and prolly thought "oh this isnt just a POS I4 honda, mus be at least a V6" So then he starts riding our ***. So we get onto an onramp onto a freeway and briskly accelerate up to 65-70'ish (I dont let him push it to 8k). So at about 70 the GT pulls into the lane right of us and hits it, so does John in 3rd. Well he slowly inched by us and once he was clear he swerved over into the lane left of us. we had to switch lanes cuz of traffic and we got behind him and neither of us really gained or loss from there. So basically, he won by 1.5-2 carlengths.

AFter it was over we pulled up next to him and i gave him a thumbs up, meh.

Just curious, what do these new GT's pull in the 1/4 etc.. Cuz i wanna know if it's stock or modded. I have raced like a 94' GT V8 and I '0wn3d' him. BUT THIS thing runs low 14's ..... I dont feel too bad for losing to it

I've got some friends who are into the domestic scene, and according to them, the new GT's will pull ~14.0-14.2 with a 5-speed and a decent driver. The AOD automatic will add several tenths to this time ('Stang fans generally regard the stock AOD as a power-sucking piece of dung) I don't know if you could tell if the car was a 5-speed or auto, but I figured this is worth mentioning.

The 99+ GT is a MUCH faster car than the 95-98 SOHC GT, which were high 14-second cars at best, but usually run low 15's with a 5-speed and high 15's with the AOD.
