I can believe it. The 2001 v6 stangs are on the average of 15.8. If it's a good driver with a 5 speed, maybe 15.2.
I've only seen them get to 15.5 at the track
But still....it's a v6 stang pos. Try going against me!

The older V6 mustangs are very underpowered. I don't know how many liter, but it's only about 140 or 150 hp. Now the 2000 and newer V6s are a bit faster.

ah, man I just noticed he said it was a convertable. No wonder. That adds a lot of weight. And not to mention I thought he had at least the mp3. He needs to line up against a mustang coupe, different story then. There's no way an ES will wipp up on a v6 stang 2001, they have about a little over 200 in torque.

yeah your probably right about the weight factor, beacause the coupe 3190lbs and the convertible is 3315lbs, but wait a second I had alot of weight in my car also, first there was me 220lbs, a 24 of beer in a cooler with ice and also my sub box in the trunk which is about 100lbs, and my cousin 170lbs, so my car was pretty
weighed down also, and he had himself 160lbs and my other friend 150lbs in the stang and I passed him pretty fast, by the time I hit 180k/m I was about a car lenght ahead, so you be the judge.

No offense, but you seem pretty confident on beating a bone stock V6 stang. But with a mod list similair to yours, that V6 stang POS as you like to call it, would probably be running in the low to mid 13's. I find it amazing that people will spend all this money on modding a car so that it can beat stock american cars. I happen to currently own a 2000 Mustang GT, with gears (3.73) and exhaust only, I ran a 13.8. So, I guess I am a little partial to the Stangs. As far as them being POS, as with any vehicle from any manufacturer, if you treat it right, it will treat you right.

One thing you will never get from an import is that great feeling of torque that a V8 or a properly tuned V6 will give you. I respect what many of you do with all the performance mods, but you should set your goals a little higher on the chart, i.e. beating a Eclipse GSX or maybe even a Skyline GTR.

Unfortuantely, I am getting rid of my Mustang. It does not fit into the family "plan". I am getting a Pro5 because of the styling, certainly not the performance. I am also partial to Mazdas as we currently have a 2K MPV ES and I owned a 92 MX-6 a while back.

Well, if you say so. I've never seen the convertibles at the track. only coupe. not only is there a weight factor but also the drag on the car from the convert.

On the highway, I have killed numerous Stangs that thought I was just another ricer. They look over and laugh at my neons, and take off. I follow, steadily catching up, until I blow by at 120+ mph. Then they try to play catchup. They don't.

maybe they let off way before 120. You can't tell what they are thinking. but I bet they were like, man this guys crazy! He's going over a 100mph just to try and beat me! Screw it, let him go and get a ticket. There he goes, now I'll just stay behind him and drag off of him, that way the cop will see him first and not me! What an idiot!
that's probably what they were thinking

I miss torque so bad : ( Whenever I get to drive my old beretta 2.8 V6, I have fun. No, it's not fast in any shape or form, but there is torque there and I can go up hills in one gear higher... That **** is nice. That's why my next car will most likely be a v6. Don't worry I'm going to keep the 3deuce3... But I want to put a KL-ZE in in... Yay for torque!

No they didn't. They were way over 100 MPH, and I was right on his tail. I even started the pursuit late!

Today I was going south down Matlock Rd, and this red Rustang (V6) came past me, looking at me with those "rice mocking" eyes, and sped on past. I caught and passed him, and mad it to stop light at Green Oaks and Matlock. Him and his girl pulled in right BEHIND me, and reved. I sat there, changed a CD, and waited for the light. The light turned green, and I had a slight chip as I gripped nicely at take-off. A moment later, he's starting to get closer to my bumper(but slowly). I shift to 2nd, he's still getting closer (2 car-lengths away). When I hit 3rd though, I started to pull away. 4th gear came, and I was going about 75, and decided to slow down cause traffic was comming up past Cravens Park.

A V6 Mustang with out having their limiters removed can only reach a top speed of approx 115mph. That might explain the 'catch up' you may see at speeds in excess of 115.

A Protege owner on your site only ran a 15.4 with a shot of the bottle. Anyone see a problem with protege's "raping" stangs?

i see no problem. maybe not a raping... but a kill is a kill. i like 'stangs, but let me ask you why do the v6 owners think they can beat any sedan on the road? i've smoked a few mustangs in my day too with my 103 hp beast. btw, welcome to the board VortechStang.
