lol, well congrats, but those new Se-Rs are just sad over all, weighting 2900lbs, and that engine might be stated at 175hp or 160hp, but they dont put down **** to the ground....
Are you guys talking about the new SENTRA???? !! I didn't know it was that much of an accomplishment to ALMOST pull on one!!

Please tell me your talking about a different car

Oh yeah, I think I get 2nd up to around 50...third around 80.
I feel that all the torque is the only thing that saves the v, for the redline/fuel cutoff is at 6200...the lowend torque is the only thing that saves it when you upshift IMO...

The gearing of it is a big disadvantage (something like 42mph in 2nd?!). Combine a close ratio 6 spd. with a low reving, flat torqued engine and you will be shifting that cable linkage all day long. The gearbox does not take advantage of the engines torque at all. That is another reason why the 0-60 times were not sub 7 sec, like everyone said they would be. It can barely squirt a 99 or 00 Si

the 2003 spec-vs i hear are much better than the past revisions..... better gear ratios and its tweaked a little

but really the engine still requires a 5k-10k brake in period to be safe, sucks!

but what doesnt suck, is with a good driver, stock, with stock tires you can pull a 15.1-15.0 in the 1/4 mile!

lol, as some of you noticed before, im pretty biased to the SR20 engine, not the QR25 in the new se-r........

but you guys shouldnt think less of that car, its pretty damn powerful stock..... **** i drove one, and it made my p5 look worthless powerwise..... now my classic se-r felt about the same powerwise (i like it better still).... but oh well

for 17k ish you can get a spec v now..... can you beat that? not really

The Spec V is by far the best deal for the money. I paid $16,500 out the door for mine. Only option was floormats (has cd/ac all that stuff). I love the look of the MP3 not so much the P5 (not into stationwagons). I looked at the MP3, 02 Si, Spec, WRX, RSX-S. I wanted the WRX but too much $$. I traded my 00 Si for the spec because it is quicker than pretty much any other car in its class. The mazdaspeed protege will probably be able to take the spec in acceleration but that is from a car that is putting out 170Hp with a turbo come on. The spec is 175 N/A. That and the mazdaspeed is est price $20K. I am not bashing the protege because they are sweet looking and out handle pretty much anything you would throw at them. But in a overall performance to dollar ratio you cant beat $17K for a Spec. Later to all car lovers everywhere.

I've said this before.. If i was older then i am now.. (im only 16) i would buy a Spec-V. I have a 99 pro ES and i'm not saying its a bad car but i mean.. daaamn a 17.5 in the quarter.. I would love to be runnin 15.0 or 15.1 in the 1/4 with a sweet Spec-V. I know they may not be as nice to look at as with my Protege but that can be changed. Stillen has some nice interior and exterior parts out already. And with a name like Stillen backing a Spec-V you know its capable of being one fast fool.. but honestly.. the Mazdaspeed will probably run even with the Spec-V. But i give Nissan props.. they have ***** to drop a 175hp motor in a mass production car and stock be able to out run all of our stock butts. As soon as I have the dough, its time to hang up my keys to the pro and get a real 4-cyl. Until mazda has some *****, this will be the last protege i own. peace

I have to agree on the exterior appearance. I like the looks of the MP3/prot5 much better than my spec. I saw an MP3 on the road today, damn I love those but don't get to see enough of them. The only real problem I have with my car though is the rear end. It's very boring...I like the front though - and love my red interior =)...

Hey BlazedGlory, Are you sure the Spec V handles like a Protege/5? I heard they handle like MP3, or sometimes even better.

No I said the Spec V doesn't compare to the MP3 or Protege5 when it comes to handling...from what I've heard those handle with the best of them - I even remember some car magazine I read where they threw the MP3 in a handling comparison with some other very expensive, exotic cars.

The Road and Track article did a test with the MP3 and many other very expensive cars (360 Modena, 911(996) turbo, Z06, M3..etc.) and the MP3 held with most of them in the turns. Obviously it was fed taillights like someone getting run over with the back of a cement truck, in the straights.

The closest FWD car to handle nearly as good with the MP3 after its introduction (does not include Type R's) was the SVT Focus according to SCC. The Integra Type R and MP3 were tough to compare on a track due to the integras 70 some more horsepower, but the numbers were close. The MP3 was a little less grippy on the skidpad, but a little faster on the slalom, again from an old SCC, or maybe Car and Driver. I can't remember.

The first car to completely dethrone the legendary Integra Type R was the revised and turbo'ed MP3 or Mazdaspeed. SCC claims it is the best handling production Front Wheel Drive car ever made.

to put it in perspective, the SE-R Spec V was deadlast in a test against a new Si, Tiburon GT, and SVT Focus. I would say that the focus has the best bang for the buck, it is priced about the same as an SE-R. (this was a Road and Track test) It had a poorly mated gearbox/engine setup and a Torsion Beam axle in back.

I have nothing against SE-R's. A good friend of mine owns a white one and it is fun to drive. I have gripes about it, but I also have gripes about my P5. Everything looks good on a SE-R except the rear end. I don't really prefer the wheels or the red interior either, But I do like the support of the seats.

yeah...i read that comparison between all those cars. I like the looks of the Tiburon, but not sure that I'd want one (not sure why, but I've got this idea that hyundai reliability is spotty for some reason in my head)...That si I wouldn't drive (not very purdy =). The SVT Focus is a very nice car. When I first saw them I didn't really like them, but the more I see them the more my opinion changes on the looks, especially ones that are done up right. Those can look damn good and are fast too =).

Oh yeah, I think you should add some "yeah"s in your signature w/ the Milton line =) ("Yeeaaahh, hey milton, i'm gonna need you to..... ok, yeah " =) Hehe, just a suggestion...

check out supertroopers, that movie is funny as hell as well =). First 5 minutes is the funniest scene I've ever seen. But it's kind of something you'd have to have experienced to appreciate. Not something I think my father would be laughing at =).
