Which bodystyle was this Focus? If it was a sedan w/ a 110HP 2.0 SPI, then that might explain the 95HP dyno, because not all sedans have a Zetec. If it was a ZX3, the 130HP 2.0 Zetec is standard and would give a dyno pull of about 118HP with the mods you have listed.

I'm not calling BS, but this kill story is hard to believe...

Actually, I think your math is flawed. On 90% of cars, about 20% of the flywheel horsepower is lost in the transmission. (This is corrected to sea-level.) In rare cases, you will lose only about 10% in the transmission, but that's only on highly tuned sports cars. (Which the Focus obviously is not.) The rest of the time, you're losing closer to 25% of your power through the drivetrain.

So, using the math on a 130HP Zetec engine, at sea level, we see that 130 x 0.20 = 26 or a 26HP loss in the rest of the drivetrain. 130 - 26 = 104. 104HP at the wheels, at sea level. This is much closer to the 100 that Andrew posted. Where'd you get 118 from? Even with mods it shouldn't be that high...

Yes, i finally did it, i raced the ****. so i checked out his ride and talked abit to him, hes cool, even he thought his ride wasnt too hot, but its all he could afford. So the thing is, he of course has the ford 2.0liter inline 4, with a CAI, a magnaflow exhaust with dual square tips, and interior wise, he has taken out the back seat, he has audiophase 6x9s in the back, and stockers up front, running off a pioneer h.u. also he has racing pedals, a sparco shift ****, and a B&M short shifter in the works (sitting in the trunk, not installed yet). also he has recently dynoed it, and results were 95hp/100ftlb of torque... kinda funny but oh well....
[/B]

Here is your dyno graph with an intake, non-CAI
http://www.focussport.com/images/fscoold1.jpg

Here is your graph of a cat-back for the Focus, similar is design to the Magnaflow
http://www.focussport.com/images/fsexhdy1.jpg

A stock zetec makes 105-115 stock HP (variance due to factory differences) as you can see from the graph. The non-CAI intake makes 3.8 HP, and the cat-back makes 3.7 HP. A total of 7.5HP. Where is my math wrong?

I'm confused too, guys. That's why I asked Jim(YellowZX3) to come take a look at this thread. He knows his stuff, and what he's telling you is documented stuff, not opinion. I spend a lot of time on Focaljet, cause I originally wanted a focus, and know they're capable of a lot more than what you're telling us. I'm leaning towards the kid not being able to drive, cause that car with the right driver should be able to spank a stock P5. I've driven in Jim's ZX3 (manual tranny), and he would leave my stocker in the dust (even if I had a manual). So, I'm just trying to clarify the little details. Not trying to down your win, but just trying to figure out why the ZX3 kid did so bad!

oh he wasnt a bad driver at all, he has driven my car, and he drove it almost exactly how i do.... so it was his car! he told me after he drove my car for about 15min that it seemed faster stock, than his does now.... but idk, i havent got to drive his focus yet, so we'll see.

there is no way that zx3 with exhaust and CAI would make only 95hp! 5speed ZX3 swith no mods should make at least 100hp with CAI and exhaust adding another 8hp = at least 108hp, and knowing that ZX3 is almost 200lbs lighter and he pulled out back seat that ZX3 should spank any stock Pro5.
Unless the ZX3 driver does not know how to drive.

Yeah, I'm just as suprised as you are!
those are dogs Automatic Transmission.. They are nowhere near 'quick' try a new Prelude Vtec, Integra Type R, or GSR, Civic Si, Civic Type R (not shipped to us) and ofcourse the beloved NSX.. The V6 accord is far from quick, my wittle 4 banger pretty much hands them their asses

Dudes

The back seat is a cushion it ways less then pound, taking that out and calling it a mod would be like me cleaning my car and calling it a MOD

...........Hummmmmm, I love my Protege alot, BUT there is no way it can beat my Focus, and trust me I would know since I own both.......Even if you compare stock vs. stock, the Mazda would still loose......The guy driving the Focus must of not known how to drive.......My Focus did 15.9 in the quarter STOCK, I know the Protoge can't match that......
