I'm pretty sure it's the 3.1... I used to have a beretta gt ('89) with the 2.8l. It was actually pretty quick, had some good torque... but it was a huge peice of **** My dad sold it for $50 earlier this year

My cousins Z26 is a 96. Its very clean and has low miles. It was a grandma mobile. I just went out to lunch with him and I looked under the hood and the valve cover has 3100 on it. Its fast and I liked driving it. It made me think of the 94 Cavalier Z24 I had.

ok il add my two cents 02 es stock protege vs. 96 z24 cavalier my friends allways got beat off the line but I could allways out corner him and on top end he had no chance so yes we will get beat off the line but in the corners and in the long run they lose just my two cents and experience.

It's funny what some people consider "fast". Obviously you have never driven a "fast" car. So much talk about horsepower. In case you did'nt know, horsepower does not equal speed. Compare my Maxima for instance, it has 195HP and runs a 15.0 flat. There are several cars with 50-75 more HP that are barely that fast. You guys have to take in to consideration drivetrain loss, weight, etc. even then, I have seen similar cars with similar HP ratings and weight run way different quarter mile times. I realize driver has a lot to do with it but soem cars are just faster. then some cars are faster at certain gears, speeds and scenerios. It's all about the total picture, weight, driver, drivetrain, HP, Torque, and power delivery.
