2006 Mazda Festivus

2006 Mazda Festivus
Sept 1- 3 Nashville, TN
Right now I'm working on a very large meet. Details are NOT concrete yet. What I'm doing is going to mention some plans I have in an effort to generate interest and buzz. In order for this to be successful several things have to happen.
1. we need a large turn-out of COMMITED people. The past few meets I've tried to put together people don't seem to view as a priority. I'll need at least 150+ owners to gather the support I'll need from sponsors.
2. People will be required to make a small deposit (tentatively $10) in order to sign up. Also, the event will most likely cost a bit more than others I've had. We will be arranging for lodging in hotels so figure a night or two in a decent hotel.
3. There will be a professionaly judged car show with trophies so this is a good time to get exposure if you're seeking it. We'll need nice cars to sign up and actually show up.
4. We will have to reach a much larger Mazda base. This will not be Protege-specific. We need to gather support in the Miata, RX7, RX8, 6, 5, Tribute, MPV groups (if such things exsist). Cars will be arranged based on model as to where they are parked (hence the pre-registration and depost).
5. I'll have to contact key individuals with the desire and ability to help handle specific details of the planning. My last job as a conference coordinator was a lot of fun but a lot of work if you have to do it by yourself.
6. Sponsors will have to be contacted about booth space, advertising, donations, etc. I already have a list of potential sponsors and vendors. I'll contact them as details solidify and work on fee's to help the cost of the event.
The details so far are simple. Middle TN, end of august first of september, friday set-up, saturday event, sunday activites and ending late sunday afternoon. I'd like to arrange a car show and possible speakers. I'm also working on getting vehicles sent out for public view....(MS6, MX5, MS3, RX8, CX7, etc).
What's needed now is to know how many people we can SERIOUSLY commit to this so I can arrange for room/board, parking, event locations, etc. The logistics of this are huge and I need everyone to be honest with me and actually follow through with their commitment if they sign up.
For those of you on other (mazda) forums I ask that you PLEASE copy and past this on there so we can generate the buzz. Once details are concrete I'll be advertising in both RX Tuner and MazdaSport magazines. This should give us a few months of circulation to gain interest.
Right now nothing is set in stone but the date and location or pretty solid. This location is fairly central to everyone and this time of year will provide the best weather for being outside with cars.

I told scott to sticky this on our GA section. You know you can count on most of us. I guess ill try to come even though I am a nonmazda guy now. My only problem with the date is that it is way to in advance for me. I dont really forsee a problem with school scheduling, if so I could just drive up Saturday morning.

Kevin, you're always welcome but dont get upset if we dont have parking for you on location. We're planning for 200 cars....of course mazdas get priority!
Make sure that Mike (rx7) knows also so he can come out. We want everyone with a mazda to sign up.

I could really use some help getting the miata community involved. I think they have the largest user base of any mazda. With their support we'd have a lot more pull. Is Kevin still in the miata circle or is he doing his own thing?
