Drag Strip Intrest?

Hey guys, I have been talking with the Dodge guys and they were seeing about intrest for a Drag Strip meet. I said I would talk with the Mazda guys and see if there was any intrest so just wondering if anyone would come. Here is the link with the location, not exactly sure where it is, but I am guessing middle or south GA.

hmm....near columbus maybe? I could probably come out but you know firsthand how slow mazdas are in the straights. This would be a slaughter.

Well, I found out its not just Mazda/Dodge, he is making it any type of street car. I know he posted on an Evo forum and Cobalt SS forum, so hopefully there will be a decent mix of cars.

we'll still be the slowest!

what part of the state? I'm always up for having another track day here. I'm doing this talladega meet first and we can look into doing a drag-only event if thats what people wanna do.

I would love to do a track day. I was too late to sign up for the talledega meet and I think the majority of Mazda guys would rather do a track meet than drag. I like both. I still want to plan the meet in Florida during the summer!!

I would like to sign up for talladega, my only concern is my school/work schedule. I have to make at least $200 a month for car payments. I go to school Mon-Thurs and usually work on Fri and Sun. Is there an official date for the track day yet? I havent looked lately.

it'll either be the 1st or 2nd monday in March. I won't know for sure until the first of feb when I get the new price structure and event list.

I'm planning on camping out at Cheaha again the weekend prior so we dont have a 2 hour drive before racing all day.

Ya I wouldnt be able to make that. I have class on Mon from 8:00-4:45. If we do another event like this in the summer, then I will be the first to sign up and pay. My Dad really wants to take my car to a track so we can race it around. Definately let me know if you do this again maybe during the summer.

Well, here's the rub.

It costs me $1750 to rent this track and pay for insurance. This is for 10 drivers and spectators. How do I divide that cost up fairly? What is everyone willing to pay?

If this first race weekend goes well I may do another.

Like I said, can't make it out for stuff during the week until after school is over, but if you do one in the summer, I am sure I can make that.

seems over-organized if they're placing people in classes and what-not. I don't know if I can make it out that far on a sunday. Won't leave me much time to get back home
