Thursday is general Sports Car night at Soda Jerks (if you meet in St. Albert - it must be here). Things are actually quite quiet on Thursdays.

Just a thought...
Can't - I work thursday nights..

Chose chapters cuz I think wednesdays are like crotch rocket night or mustang night or something.

I will be in BC at this time, so I will not be able to attend.

Have fun!

Hi Jason

I just so happened to be around there this past Wednesday and boy it was like Harley city on St. Albert Trail, bikes all over. Looked pretty cool if you had a bike, I guess.

Cheers
Chris

Hmmm.. I think our cars might look just a little out of place if we went there next wed!

Chapters is still fine with me. Not like I have anything really to show off except my interior lighting anyway!

I agree, plus I would have to get all leathered out

Don't you also have your calipers painted? I am doing that next so I was going to pick your brain. At the last meet Brycer79 had his painted but he said it came like that when he bought it. The paint was coming off so I bet the previous owner did not use the right paint. I checked out a couple of auto stores and I saw some Ford red engine paint but the cap did not look red enough to me and I did not really want to spray it in the store. I may paint my calipers this weekend as I am cleaning out the garage after all the crap from winter so I will have some place to work on them.

Cheers
Chris

Not yet - I MAY do that on my day off on Tuesday though if I have nothing else to do..

I want to either paint mine dark blue to match the bodycolor or yellow to be a little more distinct. (plus it's the Ukrainian Flag colors. Go Ukraine!). I think the yellow would look really sharp against the dark blue. Don't want to go red. Everybody does red.

Are you planning to spray or brush the paint on?

I used the Ford Red engine paint you are talking about. And I can tell you in my case it did not come out red at all. But orange instead I think it had something to do with spray the contents of the can out and then brushing it on, becuase the color I ended up with didn't even come close to matching the test spray I did before I started. Here is my results:

http://www.overloaded.ca/jay/images/p5/caliper_1.jpg

In brighter light they look more orange. Aside from the color problem (and the orange is growing on me) it turned out VERY well. The paint seems to be very durable and the finish (even though I used a brush) looks like they were made that way...they IMHO don't look DIY painted. But seeing the results in person would give you a better idea.

So, if you are planning to paint you calipers like I did (spraying the paint into a jar, then brushing on) I'd seriously caution you to do a test piece to make sure the color is what you'd expect.

Atleast orangey red calipers are unique!

You should go yellow and be a bumblebee!

that would work too. i wonder how it would look. definitely showier than the blue. i was thinking blue b/c of the blue in the interior. i dunno. that's a good suggestion. now i have to think about it.

Hi Jay

Yeah I was going to brush paint it. I may have to look around now that you mention the orange tint on that Ford red. I would think that the orange and the yellow don't really go together.

Nice meeting you Jason and seeing your ride. Now I definitely want to paint my calipers but after seeing yours I wonder how yellow would look? I saw another post for that Wings West kit and the calipers were yellow on a yellow Protege and it looked okay, kinda matching. Hmmm, I'll have to think about it.

It was also good to hear about checking the bolts on my valve cover as well as the missing bolt on the heat shield. I'll check my valve cover this weekend when I paint my calipers, I hope.

Thanks for bringing along the manual also, that was great.

Catch you later at our next get together.

Ditto!

It was great meeting you, your wife and Cam! It's always nice to put faces to names.

It was nice seeing the rock guard on both the yellow and the blue. Gave me a good idea on how it will look on mine. I like the bumper guard too. Might have to get that as well!

I'll tell ya - every time I look at my car I like the yellow calipers more and more!!! If anything, they're unique cuz most of time you see red, but hardly ever any other color.

Had a great time! See you at the next meet!
