Hotels in Vancouver
My boyfriend and I are coming up to Vancouver the July 19-21 for the import show. I just wanted to know if any of you guys up there knew of any nice hotels in the area that are kind of inexpensive. Please let us know if you do, we would like to make reservations soon. THANKS!

Having worked in the tourism industry in Vancouver not too long ago, I might have a few suggestions. Van hotels are expensive cause of all the cruise ships so you are going to be hard pressed to get something on the cheap. Where do you want to be?
For a lower price think about something out on Kingsway in Burnaby or near the airport in Richmond. Right downtown consider the Holiday Inn Downtown on Broadway or for more cash a Best Western right downtown. Good luck.

Thanks for the help!!! I don't really know what area I would preferr to be in, but my boy wants to stay near Richmond. I'll have to look into the hotels you mentioned, I've noticed it's pretty hard to find an inexpensive hotel in Vancouver. One question though....are those hotels in a nice area?? My boys worried about staying in a crappy neighborhood and having his car get screwed with while we're up there. Let me know. Thanks!

Personally, from when I lived there a year and change ago, Kingsway may be the worst of the group. Richmond has some nice newer places and is fairly safe. Unsure of the coin though. I think there is a Travelodge out on Lougheed in Burnaby too, prices are probably decent.
Yeah, I cannot remember if the Pacific Expo is out Hastings in Burnaby or if you mean Canada Place. I think it is in Burnaby but someone else from Van would have to help you out on the location . . . unless you have an address . . . then I could help. If it is in Burnaby that Travelodge may be a good idea. Cheers.

I live in Vancouver and there's lots of places to stay. In Richmond your boy won't have to worry about getting his car screwed cuz in Richmond, thats where every car you see is either a BMW, Mercedes, WRX, Integra or a Civic, simply.. it's rich china town with tons of done up nice or expensive cars. But where prices are concerned, they're not too cheap either. I'd suggest holiday inn or best western. But definately stay in richmond if u're worried about u're car, everyother suburb in Vancouver like surrey, newwest, burnaby or east side needs to worry about their ride. Any questions PM me cuz i LIVE here.

I will take that caps locked lived to not be something personal to me. For your info I lived, worked and went to school at sfu for about 8 years and recently moved to Calgary. I bet I know Van better than you having driven tour coaches there for 6 years. Anyways, maybe I am reading too much into your post, right?
Oh yeah, if you think your ride is "safe" in Richmond, think again, all the thieves know where the nice cars are. It is only safer cause the neighbourhoods are nicer. Three of my boys lives there and they have all had stuff happen to their cars at some point.
Cheers

re hotels
The three closest hotels are the Atrium Inn (Vancouver) 2889 Hastings St E., The Best Western Exhibition Park 3475 E Hastings Vancouver and The Holiday Inn North Vancouver 700 Lillooet Rd North Vancouver.
The Show is at the PNE and the total size of the grounds is about 15 square blocks. The Atrium is at the west end of the PNE and The Best Western is at the east end. The Atrium is probably 200 - 500 feet from the show site and the Best Western about five city blocks away.
The Holiday Inn is across The Second Narrows Bridge in North Vancouver staying there would be similar to staying at a hotel near the last exit in Vancouver Wash. and going to a function at Jantzen Beach in Portland Ore.
For listings of many hotel properties in the Vancouver area contact Tourism BC and get a copy of APPROVED ACCOMODATIONS 2002

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their help. I think we may end up staying at the Best Western right there near the show. But we're still waiting to see how many other people are going with us before we book a room, so hopeully it donesn't fill up to quick. As for needing someone to show us around I know my boyfriend would love to meet up with some of the guys from Protege Club so he could see their cars. I think we'll probably be getting into Canada Friday night and we aren't going home till Sunday night so we're definatly going to want to find some cool hang outs. So let us know if you've got any good places to go.

Import show
When is the import show? I think I am going up the last week in July/ first week in August for Indy and the fireworks...don't know where I'm staying yet, but I remember the Days in Richmond was okay...not too shabby and like it was mentioned earlier, the neighbourhood is fine (we took a Type R out last year and it was fine - no bumps or scratches!) I think its the P5's turn this year though.

You're coming for the fireworks?????
Sweeeet!!!!!!!
Fireworks are sooo wicked, oh I can't wait.......
when we get closer to the date, I'll get a few other people from here, and then we could all meet up before or at the show.
