Pro5 changes for 2003?

Has anyone heard what (if any) changes are happening for the Protege5 2003 model year? I've done my looking around and research (going to go with Weber Motors here in E-town). I can afford to wait for a few months; it will give me more $$$ for a down payment, but I'm wondering what may be different for 2003. If nothing major (as I'm presuming), hopefully the 2002's will come down in price once the new models arrive. So, anyone heard anything yet? Thanks....

I believe the Canadain 2003 P5 model is really the US 2002.5 refresh model. So the changes are:

1. New rims.
2. 6 speakers (added two tweeters in space on the door mirrors)
3. Side marker turn signals
4. Sportmatic shifter on automatic tranny version.

I think that is it. Some of the changes are good I guess like the extra tweeters. I was not too fond of the new rims but I have not decided on the side marker lights. I would think from a safety point of view that it's good. Since I drive a standard I did not really care about the changes to the automatic.

Did you ask the dealer about the changes? Would they not know what are the changes for the 2003 model?

Of course, those cup holders, forgot about those, oops. You know I have not seen any pics of these. I know the cover is no longer there and the holders are supposed to be deeper.

Hi seb

Welcome to the board. Thanks for the pics but I was wondering if you could do me a favour and measure the depth and diameter of the cup holders. Also, I am interested to know if there was any change to the size of the cup holder itself in terms of diameter. I know that the ones in my P5 are both different. The driver's one is smaller than the passenger side. Thanks very much.

Does anyone know if the new laser blue mica that the 2003
P5s are available in is the same as the WRX's, cause dam I would have liked to get that color.

Well, that's kinda silly being the same size. So what's the point, stuff will still fall out.

Hmmm, have to come up with a different method. What we need is something like I have seen in the american cars where the cup holder has a rubber insert with fingers to hold the cup or whatever. I'll have to see if I can try out holders from different cars to get something to work.

Cool

I have an empty can in one of the slots for about a week now, and it didn't come out of the slot yet...I think it is deep enogh and the right size...In my other P5 (red auto) everything used to fall out.

Think: it is easier to ger a cut that fits than changing the car itself.
