But Sandman, I thought you gouged your dealer for that manual, or he screwed up his quote bad. If I could get that price I would scab it in an instant. I might be going up to Edm to visit my bro. How long does it take those guys to order in a Ractive intake, and do you have the ph number for that 110 $ place? Thanks.

No - I actually posted back in that other thread - the price has dropped to that amt, so the 90 is 90 and not a mistake!!!

The dealer took about a week to get my intake, about 2 weeks for the manual.

The place that had them for 110 is JBs Power Center on Fort Road - don't have the Ph# or the address handy. Maybe Shane is still checking this thread? I know he works there...

When I was at JB's last week (I seem to be living there recently ) I saw many of them on the shelf but they may also be for other vehicles. See Shane for the price. As we have talked about in other threads, watch out for that bracket. I am in the process of making a new one to secure it more securely.

As for the manual, I also called my dealer for the manual and said he could match that $90 price. He checked and they have them in Toronto and will take 1 day to get it to me. I ordered it and hopefully will be there this Friday July 19.

Unhappy What have I done???

I can't believe that after all I have read with respect to fitment problems with the Ractive intake - that I ordered one!

Gaaaah!

So... can anyone post a pic of an uber-bracket or bracket combo (one on both sides of the MAF)?

I am assuming that the first thing I do when I open the box is chuck the supplied bracket away and get something stiff from the hardware store... Correct?

Should I invest in the heatshield for the filter?

Has anyone tried the cold-air extension that connects to the heatshield?

The whole thing with the Ractive intake is that they probably market it for many different cars so the bracket is generic. I did nto think it was a really big deal as I can work around it. It is a compromise that I can live with since I did not spend as much as an AEM or Injen.

Interesting, I have a different filter arrangement. I have seen those filters with the heat shield and figured they are just different versions. As for that cold air extension, hmmm, that looks like it would work probably by dropping it in the same spot as the Injen CAI in the wheel well. Still probably a cheaper way to go.

kinda fuzzy pic, but...

...here's a pic of the bracket my uncle and I fabricated for my ractive:

basically just a piece of aluminum that mounts into the 2 holes in the side of the MAF and runs down to the bolt on the piece of plastic sticking out from the battery. On the other side we used the stock bracket, but i don't think it even helped at all.

Hmmm, that looks like a fairly freeform bracket. Is it really stiff enough to lock the intake in place?

it's not going anywhere! that aluminum is about 1cm thick and SOLID. When the engine moves or rocks, the plastic that the bracket is bolted to flexes but the bracket doesn't bend at all.

it's not pretty, but 'freeform' or not, it's better than the POS that comes with the intake.

Hey Jason

I have a new bracket now!! The guy in my welding shop made me one out of steel. It is good but can be better. Right now it is a prototype to get the shape right but looks pretty much like yours except in steel. He is remaking me one again and I will post some pics after I paint it.

I mentioned to my guy that there are a whole bunch of folks having the same problem and he said once he has one he can make a template and can make a bunch more. Not sure how much he will charge but I can find out if any one is interested. Probably in the $20 range as it takes about an hour to make.

As you said, it is solid now and doesn't move.
