Triming white space on front Licence Plate
Is it legal in British Columbia to cut your Front Licence Plate? When I say "cut" I mean the bottom white edge. I hope that someone knows this....

Here is what one of my budies suggested: He told me to bend it...you know, like fold it back...he said that nobody can say anything then, because it's not cut.
The reason I want this done is cuz it restricts so much air from going to the radiator...and its looks awfuly big.

Please help...what should I do...I really want that licence plete smaller and the other best thing to cutting is is bending the white esges beckwards....but at the same time I don't want cops to pick on me because of that....

Do you really think it restricts THAT much airflow?
If you bend it, how are you going to mount it? The screwholes are along the top (and bottom). Plus, the license frame will show underneath.
I don't believe you are allowed to just put it on the dash.
You can try though, but you'll be risking getting fined by those pesky cops in richmond (and I hear surrey is starting to get picky too).

You know I would think Mazda would have looked at that. After all, there are two depressions in the front bumper for the plate. I can probably bet that there is more than enough area left to compensate for the plate being in front.

Many many many street racers run their plates on hinges. For your application you'd have to lower the mounting point of the top edge and cut out your grill for it to fold back. This serves two purposes:
1. At high speed it folds back for increased airflow
2. When you run a red-light, the camera at in the intersection can't get your front plate.
