Damn, we're getting pushed out of here by those Calgary/Edmonton hicks

lol, just kidding

What's going on in Vancouver, who's going to Boom (this weekend) or Import Revolution (20th)?

Did anyone go to the last show, the Import Showoff? Turns out one of my friends was a model there and I just found out yesterday
sorry had to brag.

Hey,

I wanna find a written-off Protege5 or even better yet an MP3... anybody know where I could look for one???

BTW, when I went to junk yards in New West before, they had nothing close to a newer Protege

I wonder if you will find any of the written off P5s in the scrap yard. They are SO new and I wonder if people would not buy them back from the insurance company and sell the parts themselves. Plus it would have to be a serious smash to write it off. Just wondering.

I know one guy here (Pro-fan) is looking for a front tower bar from the P5 for his Protege LX (right Mike ).

You damn right Chris! I'd love a front tower bar!

Not only does it help handling, but it looks SWEET under the hood!

Well Pro_Fan, my fellow LXer, if I find a front tower bar......

I'll buy it for myself!!! That's one of the main reasons I'm looking for a Protege5 or better yet an MP3 hehehe

I'd probably buy seats too, and the centre console so that I can experiment painting it, etc.......

Screw searching and I don't CARE if I'm hijacking the thread...

Does the tower bar from the P5 fit the sedans?

The only time I've seen a wrecked MP3 was on Ebay...that was a while ago though. So sad

Mike

I checked with my Mazda parts guy and here is the scoop.

Tower bar - $217.05 CDN
Right bracket - $33.06 CDN
Left bracket - $38.01 CDN

So if you can get wrecked it would be better. Nuts not included so you will have to get some of those too. Darn it I forgot to ask if the bar fits the LX. I think it should since the GT version uses it.

www.mazdastuff.com has it cheaper if you're looking to buy it online...... 99$ I think.

$99 USD Plus shipping and handling in USD....No idea what that would work out to in CDN funds, but I don't see it being too much cheaper.

Yeah especially if they use UPS. Anything shipped by them gets charged their brokerage fee if you do not have your own broker. A friend of mine got charged $43 for a $25 order. Needless to say, he was pissed.

You're also talking steel here too so not light so maybe around $190 CDN to your door? Not much savings I think. Plus I would rather support my local CDN dealer if the price is the same (or there abouts) as it develops a relationship with him and in the future he may do something for you.

Sorry but if the deal from mazdastuff.com is everything included for 99$ US plus shipping (can't be more then 25$ US)........

125$ US is approximately 200$

that's a big difference in price.

However I never liked dealing over the net (done it once only, but I'm still skeptical about it).

Mike,

I was at the dealer today getting my first oil change. Anyway, I spoke to the parts guy and I asked him if the tower bar from the P5 fits the LX. He did not know. It is not really stated in any of his stuff. Doesn't the so called GT version of the 2002/3 Protege come with the tower bar?

How about you measure the distance between those free bolts sticking up on the towers and send me that dimension. I can then check my dimension and if it matches then you know it will fit.
