Angry West coast insurance

I forgot to mention...I inquired about my insurance and it is so much. Danmit privatize the insurance! I will go from $1300 (with my t-bone accident I had in edmonton) to $1750 and that does not include all coverages (just pleasure). Is there insurance for 'pleasure'? What are you guys pay'in????

Are you saying the Gov't insurance is higher in BC than private is in AB??? Wow, you guys must be getting hosed. Here in Sask you'd be paying about 1K a year plus a hundred dollar surcharge on your licence for being in a at-fault accident.

When I moved back to Sask from AB I went from about 3K a year to 1K on each of my cars. 24 year old 4 star driver at the time.

Jep, Gov't BC insurance is greater than private AB insurance! I believe it has to do with the frequency of accidents and population. I bet a mathmatician can derive a model for you. If there are other factors: I don't know.

Yeap, ICBC sucks ***.

Try this, call up CDI (Canadian Direct Insurance).

You have to get your BASIC INSURANCE via ICBC, but everything else you can get elsewhere, and CDI seems to be much cheaper! We've got it on all of our cars... and its much cheaper that ICBC...

How did you get the rebate of $700?!? Isn't the insurance the same there as it is here? I completely agree with the land of the nearly dead. So true...

there are a lot less cars in Victoria and probably a LOT less accidents out here, so when i moved to Victoria, i changed my address with ICBC and i ended up getting a rebate

i meant Victoria was "land of the nearly dead and newly wed ... " NOT Vancouver (just to clear things up)

I was wrong. It turns out that I am still, and have been, a BC licensed driver for as long as I have been in Alberta. It turns out that you have to cancel your license if you leave BC. I never knew that. So for the 5.5 years that I lived in AB, I became a 'road star' because I had no accidents here in BC! So I got the max dicount! My insurance was $1400! Nice eh? A $350 dollar savings from what I was initially quoted!
