where o where...

...can i find plastikote paints in edmonton or calgary?

Or better yet - a place that can match me a paint equal to the color on my center console? (that will also be a tough, long lasting paint)

I know that there's a guy that mixed 2 plastikote colors that came damn close and I have the color codes for that, but i'd prefer just one paint that's already the right color.

Hi Jason

I spoke to my auto body friend and he gave me a name of a company that mixes colours for him. However they use the auto paint codes. If you take a piece that you want to match they may be able to do it and they can even put it in a spray bomb for you. The name of the company is Southtown Auto Parts. Of course these would be auto paints which may be a good thing.

The other option is to go to Home Depot and they have a machine that can read the colour from the piece and maybe they can mix you up something in an enamel.

Excellent! Thanks. I thought of doing the color match thing at home depot, but i didn't think they'd be able to do it with a paint that i'd want to use in my car. (don't know how well deck stain would work.. hahaha)

Well... If they did, they don't anymore, cuz I scoured the shelves high and low for some. No biggie tho. My uncle hooked me up with an autobody place that'll color match the piece i need, so hopefully it'll be all good. Gonna check the place out on monday.

Hey Jason, I found your Plastikote. Tons of it!!! Okay maybe a bunch and not a ton. That same place, Southtown Auto Parts has a bunch of cans there in many colours. That store is part of the UAP/NAPA group and one of the few that mixes auto body paint.

I was in there getting some paint for my...wait for it...P5 . I am painting the upper grill now and I figured I should do it right and get the right primer for the plastic grill. The paint on the lower grill is starting to come off so I will redo that too.

Check them out. Not sure if they are open Saturdays but you can call.

Actually Chris, I don't even need the plastikote anymore!! Went to Carlson Autobody on Yellowhead and 66th and got them to color match me some paint, so it's all good. It's the SEM automotive paint too so it'll probably last longer than our body paint!!!

Thanks Though!!!
