19' wheel fad on the way out
Anyone else notice that the big wheels (18's on a protege or civic small imports) are going the way of the bellbottom pant?
Performance and Durablity not to metion Cost are going to make this whole "too much wheel for the car" the big 1995-2005 fad that will die and everyone will think how funny it was to put 19s on a small perfomance car.
No I am not saying that cars with 13 Brembo's will be rocking on a pair of 15's, but I am thinking that you will start seeing cars (and no not show cars - they have never made practical transportaton) that are wearing more hp and use appropriate wheels.... example 16's on a P5 is plenty... 17's if you have a break up grade... otherwise spend your money on somthing worth your bread...
Just something to introduce my self to the board!

I DO like big rims on other kinds of cars though... i.e. luxury/cruising cars, or trucks/suvs. Nothing like seeing a nice set of 20s on a bimmer or mercedes to brighten my day

Chris, welcome to the clup and our happy home away from home.
I think you are right to some extent....i believe that more and more people are realizing that 18's and 19's are not very practicle at all for daily driving.....and you MAY see a decline in them....except for on all the rice boys' cars.

Uh oh...so now we're saying anything bigger then 17" is rice?
Here's what I think of rice....
Rice = whatever you don't like (which is bulls%@t)
Personally I think 18's look good on a P5 if done right....19's are just a tad too big...but 19's on a slammed Acura or Accord look good....to each his own!

when I said the riceboy's cars....I was refering to all those HONDUH drivers.....lol.
I too have seen MANY a car that the big wheels looked sweet has hell......i just don't think they are very practicle for everyday driving. I guess if you lived somewhere where all the roads were nice and smoothe....fine....but most places aren't.

no, just pointing out a trend... I really think that 18"s are sweet looking.. but they are starting to become less of the focus of the import performance crowd.

i never said anything bigger is rice..
but bigger generally is less performance oriented, that's all..
too small isn't performance oriented either.. (handling aspects related to grip or tread contact area)
