2002 P5 Rim Corrosion/Bubbles
Hello again everyone,
I recently put the summer tires/rims back on and was shocked to find that all 4 wheels have corrosion bubbles. These rims were kept on during the winters of 01-02 and 02-03 and I am guessing that road salt had eaten away at them. Quite noticeable even at a distance on 2 of them. Look like crap.
Obviously they aren't fixable but has anyone here had the same problem? If so has anyone made a case to the dealer to have them replaced? I know the previous owner quite well (my mum and sister's old car) and it wasn't a matter of them not taking the time as best as possible to keep the car free of salt in the winter.
Could there be another explaination for the bubbling?
Thanks!
Jay
Oh...these rims are the ones that came with the car. Ones that you'd find on any 2002 P5.

Rim Corrosion
My 2002 P5 had this exact problem. A quick visit to the dealer and a brand new set was installed under warrantee two weeks later.
Use your warrantee before it runs out!!! Nice bonus to get rid of that curb damage when I first got the car.
Good Luck.

By the way, I am in BC, Canada. I had the car in Nova Scotia for one winter (bad place for salt) and I suspect your guess is correct on the cause.
A comment though. The dealer didn't even bat an eye about replacing them. Makes me think I was not the first person to bring my car in for that problem.
