Cool Goodyear Eagles should Fly Away

Just want to vent about the high performance Eagles supplied with many new vehichles in Canada. I have had experience (bad) with these on my daughters Dodge Avenger.
They should be illegal, especially in Canada.
They are not an all season tire by any stretch - very poor winter traction.
They wear quickly - I am at 30k on my Mazda3 and they are looking sad - yes Ive rotated. By the way these "high performance" tires need to be rotated more frequently.
My daughter had an Eagle flat sitting in her parking lot. It was totally flat for several days sitting. Apparently the weight of the vehicle damaged the aluminum rim and they said the "high performance" Eagles sidewall was wrecked and not advised to repair. $260 (Canadian) and $220 to repair aluminum rim. Almost a$500 flat tire !!
Normal touring tires cost about 25 bucks to repair.
Not worth the money to replace. I replaced the Avenger with Kelly Navigators for 160 each and they are excellent. Plan to do same for Mr. Mazda.
Just wanted to rage a bit. Thanks for listening and thanks for replies.

When the Goodyear Eagle hit the market back in the 80s (yes, the brand is that old), it was a good tire... It truly DID compete with the high end Pirelli and Michelin units and worked well.. True, you could only get about 30K miles out of a set - but that wasn't far from the industry standard...

Fast forward 20 years.... The Eagle is still the same basic tire it was then - but now has spawned ALL SORTS of different "styles" - all based on the great tire it WAS. People wanted Eagles on their Buicks and their Mercurys and their Toyotas and all over so the name was diluted and made available in all sorts of styles and sizes and speed ratings...

I've got a 2001 PT Cruiser, a 2002 PT Cruiser and My 2008.5 Mazda 3.... The 01 Cruiser (at 85K miles) is on the third set of tires - stock Eagle LS, replacement Eagle LS and now Kumho Ecsta ASX. I got about 30K from the first Eagles, about 33K from the second and the rest has been on the Kumhos.... And when they need replacement - they will be another set of the Kumhos...

The 02 Cruiser is on it's ... 3rd set? ... of Eagles - with about 65K miles total... After putting a set of Kumhos on the Town & Country My mom drives, she'll replace the 02 Cruiser with Kumhos, too.

The 08 M3 has those Eagles... and I'm already planning that in about 2 years I'll be looking at a set of Kumhos..... For My money, they're the best I've found...

BTW, last time I replaced the Eagles on the 01 Cruiser, they were $105(US) per tire (plus mounting, balancing and all that stuff....)

My 3 came w.eagle RSA's. They stuck well to the road but only lasted about 16k miles. Under warratee... I replaced them w/ eagle F1 about...$238.50 each. Great tire dry or wet but a little $$$$. RSA's cost even more.
