Help on New Rims!

Help on New Rims!
I am investing in a new set of Racing Hart C5 Rims for my '03 ES Sedan. They are 17'' x 7'' and wrapped in 205/40/17 tire. Is there anybody out there that can tell me if these would work okay on my car without rubbing? Will I need to lower my car for them to look right? Should I change something about my selection? Please let me know, I need some help tremendously. Thank You so much! Any input will help!

I wantes to look into getting 215/40/17 (guitargod), but everything I see on the websites I am finding only list the 205/40/17 and then the 215/45/17. I was just using the 205 model because I think I saw someone on the thread that had that size. Would the 215/45/17 work on my car with this rim, or would it change something. What is the difference between these two tires. Help, cause I am *not too smart* when it comes to the dimensions of wheels and tires. Thanks people!

Go here and you will see how different sizes affect the rim/tire combo.

as GuitarGod mentioned...the 215/40/17 IS the closest wider tire to the stock tire diameter. and YES they can work....IF your wheel has the proper offset.
I am currrently running the 215/40/17 on my P5 and they fit like a charm...and no rubbing...even with passangers in the back...and my car is lowered on Eibach springs.
Since you have a sedan and a wheel that is only 7 inches wide....you will need to ENSURE that the wheels you get have AT LEAST a +42 offset if you want to run 215's and possibly lower it in the future....which you will!

so if i jump on some rota slipstreams 17x7 (5 x 114.3) with 215/45/16 azenis i should pick the 45mm offset and not the 40mm offset for my pr5 (i have the spool springs and will install them in august)...these wheels will be solely for racing so i'm not to concerned about rubbing when turning the wheels all the way

as for the tires....get the 215/40's.....not the 45's by going with the 40's the tire diameter is so close to stock that the speedo is less than 1% different than stock, .4% to be exact....with the 45's the difference is 4%.
and if those wheels ARE going to be purely for racing....you would want to go with a smaller diameter tire...not a larger one. the smaller tire will increase your acceleration while decreasing your top end...and the larger tire will do the opposite. and since we KNOW our cars are not top end chargers...nor really quick...I will assume you are going to be autocrossing and thus an increase in acceleration without really considering what your TOP END is would be justification for getting a smaller diameter tire.

I think you meant 16x7" with a 45mm offset. That's what I'm currently running... with 205/50/16 Yokohama AVS ES100 tires. Dropped on Eibach prokit springs. No rubbing at all.

i will most likey get the 45mm offset for the 16 x 7 wheels (all other items same size) this combo will be a little bit wider tire than stock allowing me to keep up with most of the cars through the twisties (yes i was running dunlop sp5000s on stock wheels meaning tire squeal and pushing the limit too easily)
thanks for the help you 2
