Only two alloy wheels?
I'm finally going to ask, I've seen this on alot of cars lately. They have large alloy wheels on the rear and regular slightly smaller wheels on the front. Why? Does it improve handling, or are they just unable to afford four of them?

the only place I have seen this before is on REAL HOTRODS....as in older muscle cars...and hotrods with 1930's/40's body styles...its called "BIG AND LITTLES"....it looks right there....but on newer imports? I wouldn't think so.....

Early NSX's had 15's on the front and 16's on the back. But I think what he is talking about is guys who run aftermarket 17's on the back and coverless OEM wheels on the front. I think its just a fad, in other words, rice.

here in Vermont, there are a lot of stock civics that just take there front hub caps off, it is very funny
i think they do this, so that people think they just got back from the track and they might still be goin fast (even tho they have snow tires on the front haha)

Right, 17" on the rear and stock on the front, lowered to the ground. It was just so strange looking I thought there must be some performance advantage to do that...
BTW, I saw an NSX being driven on I5 a few weeks ago, it had a little fleet of RSX's and Integras around it to protect it, the drivers were all talking to eachother on those radio-phones.

Prowlers also have an odd front rear tire combo. 17's front and 20's rear.

Makes sense on a Rear Wheel Drive Car
- Wider Rear Wheels/Tires : More bite when accelerating
- Narrower and smaller/lighter front wheels: easier steering and response
Among other things, if you think about it.
On a FWD car, the way described by the thread-starter, definitely rice
