Pothole 1, Protege5 0

Well, as the title says, hit a damn pothole tonight on our way to dinner. Hoped the damage wouldn't be too bad, but...

Now, I have to find out where I can get 1 of these wheels for a decent price. Might have to give Rishie a call on Monday!

Holy ****! I will remember to shy away from pot holes from now on. That must have been a crater you hit.

I just went through a similar experience at work. A fleet car, I think a rent-a-car, came in with a flat tire, and my boss told me to check it out. I look at the rubber, and I cannot find any visible damage at all. So, I pump the tire up, and then soak with soaped water around the beads and thread to look for the small stuff, and low and behold, the back of the rim has cracked and is leaking out air.

Did you prep it to be fixed or did the wheel actually break away like that???

are those rims strong?
That looks like the Rim just gave way without even a slight fight

Not sure how strong they are but yeah, it looks like it just broke off without a fight as you said.

As an update to this matter...I finally got my new wheel in and took it up to get the tire put on. Figured I would get all balanced and rotated too (free). Glad I did. The rear left wheel which also hit the divot but was not leaking any air also is bent. We were able to balance it, but I think I am going to have to replace that one too. I am going to drive around and see if there is any vibration before going that route, although when I put it on the front for rotation there will most likely be more of an issue. So at some point I am going to have to replace it anyway. Maybe I will do it now, so I can turn both in to the county for replacement.

If you can turn them into the county for replacement and you are 100% sure that you can get your money back then I say for for it ... That is a realy bitch to frigin have nice rims and then they just crack like that when you hit a pot hole...
To be honest with you , Rims look nice , but after a while you notice that they are just a pain in the ***... they bend, they discolor .. they go out of style lol ....
oh well what can you do ...

Same Sh*t busted up 4 rims in the last 2 summers for me. The last time was yesterday. The pass. side got it , last time was the front 2 rims I'll post a picture. In my city they chew up the road 1 day and come back to pave the next. Well they leave 1 inch to 3inch curbs in the road way. When it rains at night u can't see them. No signs or blinking light nothing, Your just F*cked. As u can see it makes me soooooo Pissed off!!!!

Heh that sucks man.. but that's why I'd never buy ADRs. I've seen it happen before on another ADR model. I've also seen a Konig with cracks, and there has been a bad batch of Rota Slipstreams. But I've had a set of Rotas before.. Rota Mantis I belive in 17x7" on my previous Saturn SC. I've ran over things like: potholes, a dead dear, a 5" tall curb. Never was the rim bent or cracked. I guess I was lucky?

That was my car before I sold it back in 2000.
