I need new tires for my 02 LX.

First of all can I put 205/50 - 15s on the stock 15inch rims without any problems. I know that I will be roughly .5 MPH off at 60mph, but that doesn't really bother me.

Second of all I live in Oklahoma. Only see about 5-10 days with snow a year. Would it be bad to get Kumho 711's. They are a Summer tire with low snow traction. How bad is the snow traction really for those that have these tires. I am guessing I could get away with it if I was just carefull.

I have 712's on my Mustang and love them. Not good at the strip, but still a good tire.

I can get the 711 at tirerack for $43.

The other tire I am looking at is the Dunlop Sport A2. It is an all season tire, but is $78 a tire. Is the price difference really worth it or should I just get the Kumhos?

I was wondering what tires to get myself. The stock Dunlops did ok. Maybe I'll just get those again.

 

A number of people on the Forum have replaced their 195/55-15's with 205/50-15's on the stock wheels without any problems.
I can't answer your second question though because I don't have Kumho tires.

 

Try the Falken Ziex 512's. They were rated the number 1 tire on Consumer Reports, unidirectional.

Whatever you do, make sure to buy a QUALITY tire. The cheapest tire is not always the best. It's not wise to overspend, but it's even worse to spend too little. The tires are the only things on your car that hold it to the road. It's also whats going to determine your braking ability. I don't have any size advice.....just making sure your priorities are in place!!
