Hi guys - I am a newbie to this site so please take it easy on me!

I just purchased a Mazda3 with the alloy rims and have just scraped one of them on a curb (I know, I know - I am an idiot - I have no excuse 'cept that my previous car was not so wide!).

Is there anything I can do to somewhat repair the damage I have done - ie. some sort of filler or repair kit?

I was absolutely devasted when it happened! If anyone has any ideas, I would be very interested in hearing them!

I did the same thing one of the first times a parked. I took it to the dealership and they have a guy who fixes scratches on the rims, but it involves sanding down the whole rim and refinishing them, he told me as an estimate about $145 which I thought was a little bit much considering it was just a small scratch.
If there is a cheaper alternative I'd love to know.

Just dont bother polishing them, instead you can take it to get re powdercoated.
Too bad you dont have polished aluminum rims they are very easy to fix.

 

would that work for the stock rims on the 3? they aren't polished aluminum. What are they made of?

 

I was wondering the same thing as rx. The stock rims on the 3 are really soft and the scrape isn't superficial. It looks as though I have actually removed part of the rim.

They say that the rims are "alloy" which I think simply implies a form of aluminum, but I am not sure about this.

 

I really dont know what the 3 wheels are made of, most likely aluminum.

You can sand them down just as long you know there not painted/powder coated. After your done you can just spary on another clear coat or something, to protect them.
