How wide are 1999 LX wheels?

this guy is trying to sell me his 1999LX steelies and he said they are 5.5" wide? my 15" steelies are 6" wide(my 2002 DX).

will a 205/50/15 falken still fit on a 5.5" wide rim?

SORRY to keep bothering you all with width/tire questions.

-Marc

they would probably FIT...but I wouldn't recomment running a tire that wide on a 5.5 inch wheel.....you won't find to many tire makers that will tell you its okay for a 205 on a 6 inch wheel.....

so....with that....i would say FIT yes.....good idea? no way.

6" is definitely the lower end of any 205 tires rated width. 205 is usually measured on 7" wheel. Check the manufacturer's specs for the tire you want.

ALL tire makers leave a SAFETY MARGIN of what they will RECOMMEND for wheel width....you won't find to many that say its okay for a 6 inch wheel.....but there are plenty of people that do it anyway....the only danger here is that you remove ANY AND ALL LIABLILTY from the tire maker if ANYTHING ever happens....all they have to say is you mounted the tire on a wheel that was smaller than what was their recommentation.....and they are off the hook....

just some food for thought.
