Weight of 2000 ES wheels?

Keep dreaming buddy... 2003 16" alloys weigh in at 16lbs. This is pretty much the only reason I have yet to replace my wheels, the amount it would cost me to "upgrade" my wheels doesn't offset the minor gain in appearance, and I refuse to lose performance for the sake of appearance.

And believe me, adding 4 lbs. of weight to each wheel on a car with 130 hp is going to make a difference. Also, are you changing tire sizes? A lot of low profile tires weigh more than their larger counterparts as well.

I know that you're talking about 2000 wheels, although I wasn't sure on if they were 15's or 16's. But, keeping with the fact that generally as you go up in size you also go up in weight, it doesn't matter since the 16's are much lighter than 20 lbs.
As for what you're dreaming about, I was being somewhat sarcastic in the fact that we're actually lucky enough to get lightweight rims from the factory, although like I said, that makes it a hard decision when upgrading. Its a choice between low cost and low performance, or high cost and no real gain, aside from possibly better handling (which we don't lack in the first place) and a little appearance.

I saw a post somewhere in here quoting 17 lbs for the '99-00 ES/'01-02 LX OEM 15x6 alloy wheel. As for aftermarket wheels, shop around, some are lighter than others. But when it gets down to the truely "lightweight" wheels get ready to pay $$$$$$. And 03ESpro is dead-on about feeling a difference. Makes you wonder about those 26" DUBS with spinners, what kind of performance those guys are losing with them on their two-ton 10MPG SUV's. Ughhh.

thanx for all of the info.
I am getting 16's simply for aesthetic purposes. Will lack of real aftermarket for the 2000 Protege I will be happy with "looking" the part. LOL. I will weigh tire/wheel of each when i get them..........

Yup... 21 lbs! Too bad you can't run those in the front. A stock 16 with tire should be 36 lbs., but my wife's out of town for the night, and I've got a DVD with 4 episodes of Alias to watch, so I'm not going to weight that one! God, I love Netflix!!
