What is the best OFF SET for Protege 5 ?

I have a P5 and currently running 215/40/17 White DTM

but found out that when the rear seat has 3 ppl siting , it will rubs so badly
like everytime i turn over 40km will rub ....
so i have to drive very slowly ......

problem is that
if i lower my car ?
will it rub even more ?

or i should change the tires to 205/40/17 ?

or i should change the rims instead
maybe the offset of wrong ?

I dont know anything about offset

so what is the best size for P5 that it wont rub for sure ??//
i wanna lower my car but i dont it rubssssss

Yes, I know this. I distribute the ADR line and you need a +44 mm offset in a 7" width. I remember seeing a pick of your car and mentioned at that time that you would rub.

Best thing to do is sell them and buy the rims I'm getting made for our cars. They are 17,7.5 +48mm offset and come in white, bronze, gunmetal, silver w/machine lip. Looks like the CP035 and only weighs 16lbs in 17". This wheel will love your 215/40/17.

I've researched wheels for many months for the Protege and the options are extreeeeemly limited. So I warn everyone, as I know I hated spending a G on rims and tires only to find out that they rub and the seller won't take them back.

You can try the 205/45, but it would be really close. Most wheels come in a +40, +42 for 7"ers and +40, +45 for 7.5's. These just are not sufficient and I do not reccommend rolling or trimming the fender. There is not enough room, lip is only quarter inch.

i need +48mm offset ? and 7 width ?
so then it wont rub even i lower my car right ?
even 3 ppl sit on the back ?

7 width or 7.5 ?

but will 215 too wide for our car ?

A seven inch width should be fine with a +43-45.

Every time you increase the width a half inch, you will need to adjust the offset by 5mm in a positive direction.

Therefore, on a 7.5" width you would want a +48-+50.

My friend just told me that
my DTM offset is +40

actually
i am still confuse to the offset

so the less offset ? like +35 - +40 will rub for sure ?

what about +45 - +48 ?
becoz i dont know what is offset so i dont understand those number mean

and the rims width ........
7.5" width is wider than 7 " right ? <-- obviously

so if i dont wanna rub
just get 7" with +45 offset?
u sure this set up wont rub right ?

I am planning to get OZ superluggera Corsa
so do you know what size they will fit ?

I'm gonna give you a brief overview on the easy way to calculate offset based on width. Please give me some stars for this one. We will start off with differences of full increments.

The real way to figure out offset is by measuring the backspacing on the wheel and compare that to the width of the wheel. I would have to show you illustrations for that.

What I can do is give you some rules of thumb about calculating offset.

1. 25.4mm = 1 inch; This is fundamental, without this conversion you will be screwed.

2. So a quarter of an inch will be between 6-7mm. Double for half inch and so on.

3. When you have a 7" wheel and then add 1" in width, you will put a half an inch on both sides of the wheel. The added width is not just applied to the inside.

So if you want the wheel to sit in the same spot and you've added half an inch to the outside, resulting in rubbing, you will need to "machine" another +13mm off the back pad of the wheel so that it will sit in the same position as the previous thinner wheel. Then the full inch goes to the inside. Generally, we will find something in the middle because we do not want it to rub on the inside either.

The easy way to find the perfect fitment is to just take a wheel and fit it, then interpolate based on that. The proper way to do it is to measure the available backspacing. Go to Fikse.com and check out their website. They have a measurement thing you can print out and see how to really do it.

Now if you take the same wheel and on a different car you are rubbing on the inside, you will need to machine less metal, or add metal = spacers, to the pad of the wheel, which is denoted as negative offset.

I'm looking into the 5zigen 5zr and it comes in a
+35 +43 +48 5-100/ 114.3 7.5" size

So would i get the 48 offset for the p5?
