Will 205 or 215 fit the stock P5 rim?

I was wondering whether 205 or 215 width tires fit the stock P5 rim. I have seen someone using 205 on the stock wheel because the wheel is actually wider than 6 inches as quoted on the Mazdausa website. And will the 215 fit also?

well the stock wheel IS a 6 inch wheel....but yes you can put a 205 on it...it will fit....its just not RECOMMENDED by the tire makers....

which means if you chose to do so....you do so at YOUR own risk.

205 will fit(see my sig), but you won't be able to fully exploit advantages of wider tire-they seem to roll more than stock 195...
I plan on getting 16x7 rims for spring.

What obender said.
I put 205/45's on and you have to kinda inflate them more than normal to help stiffen up the sidewalls.
205/50's would probably fit better though. but a 7" wheel is best

I too am looking to purchase new tires. One of my Dunlops recently developed a airbubble (pothole). I am planning on replacing my two rear tires with 205/50 16, since I want a little bit wider of a tire. Any recommondations for tires other then Dunlop which i am really disappointed in. Will 215's fit?

read what Sir Nuke said above... larger 205 and 215 tires will fit on the rims (many folks on this board have them) but if you take the time to go to the tire manufacturer's web site you will see that pretty much all 205 (and 215) are specified for a minimum 6.5" width rim and not a 6" rim. Can you make it fit? yes. If something goes wrong, anything you can do about it? no.

A 205-50R16 is generally approved for use on wheels between 5.5 and 7.5 inches in width with a 6.5" wheel being recommended. They'll be fine on the stock P5 wheels. Lower profiles have a narrower margin. A 205-45R16 should only be used on wheels between 6.0 and 7.0 inches wide with 6.5 inches being the best fit. I'd stick with the 205-50R16 though. Much more choices in available tires.
